Not an easy 9-0 game but should be confident, hopefully not complacent...

Everton's form so so, us on a high after a 9-0 win. All points to an Everton win but hope I'm totally wrong

If we played well then Everton let us. Because if we play well then 3 goals is more than enuff to win a game

Points thrown away due to complacency and disrespect for the opposition. Playing keep ball with 8 monutes to go instead of attacking was suicide. Maguire and Ole must shoulder the blame for not instructing the guys to press on.

If you can't play a game out at this level you don't deserve to win a title, it's an integral part of the game and the sign of a team that knows what it's doing and is confident in it's ability.
Those fuckers last night are utterly incapable, under pressure, of keeping hold of the ball for longer than 10 seconds apiece and killing a game - which gives the oppo the confidence to aggressively press and bully you into mistakes. It's a mentality thing as much as anything.
Of course, IF the two CBs were remotely compatible and vocal and experienced enough to organise a defence properly, then you could possibly mitigate some of that - but they are the worst of the worst together as a partnership. ....and Bailly is out injured - surprise, surprise - good job we bought one during the window that just shut, oh, wait..
Always down to playing personnel with this club because we are currently, and have been, completely mismanaged from the top down.
Fucking BORING.

Ole said after the game that we didn't play well first half and didn't deserve to be up by 2 at half. I agree. I was falling asleep tbh as we weren't creating too much and Everton weren't causing us too much trouble up the other end either. But we're the home team so you'd expect more.
So ok Ole's words; we didn't play well first half dont deserve to be 2 up. OK
So then what was said at HT to make them come out and play the way they did to let Everton back into it???
He just say carry on lads the way you are this is going very well we are 2-0 up???
Everton for sure were going to offer a bit more second half. What did we expect?? Them just not to bother their arses?
I can't fathom us at all we flatter to decieve.
This is why I don't know for the most situations we've been in this season, what new signings could do for us. We've been very lucky with injuries and stuff.
I'm more than happy to sit and talk with anyone and discuss where we are out of our depth in relation to our rivals based on game by game basis. I can guarantee you our inconsistencies will catch you out nearly everytime.
Like I said one week its the attack, the next its the defence, we could have messi and ronaldo up top we aint winning shit if we let in goals the way we do. Im all for the debate

Ole said after the game that we didn't play well first half and didn't deserve to be up by 2 at half. I agree. I was falling asleep tbh as we weren't creating too much and Everton weren't causing us too much trouble up the other end either. But we're the home team so you'd expect more.No such thing as home crowd advantage with no crowd. They are ALL virtually neutral venues now. Some sides are going to suffer more than others, some players need a crowd more than others. So then what was said at HT to make them come out and play the way they did to let Everton back into it??? He just say carry on lads the way you are this is going very well we are 2-0 up??? Everton for sure were going to offer a bit more second half. What did we expect?? Them just not to bother their arses? You massively underestimate Carlo Ancelotti, he's a world class manager on the wane but got 25 years experience at the top level (also the one manager I wanted to replace Fergie). It's not what Ole said or didn't say, they're 2-0 up, you just keep going, tighten things up, make the small tactical changes you need, etc. It's what Ancelotti says and gives them a rocket for being 2-0 down. What you can't legislate for is your players going to sleep and conceding two quick shit goals, despite the fact you've just told them to do the exact opposite. That's on the players and fuck all to do with the manager.
This is why I don't know for the most situations we've been in this season, what new signings could do for us. We've been very lucky with injuries and stuff. The RIGHT new signings balance the team up so you can play players in their natural and best positions. Eg a proper CDM means you don't have to have a McFred double pivot, literally two men for one position. Same with the centre back pairing, get a fast paced, very decisive left footed CB and you could play him with either Maguire or Lindelof. You don't even have to necessarily get rid of one of them. Those two positions are the spine of any team and most important, you can shuffle the rest of the pack to create / score goals, goals isn't the problem for us. So cough up and spend on those two positions.
I'm more than happy to sit and talk with anyone and discuss where we are out of our depth in relation to our rivals based on game by game basis. I can guarantee you our inconsistencies will catch you out nearly everytime. It's called a lack of balance in the first team squad and annoyingly it's not that hard to fix. But when you consider we have never replaced Roy Keane with equivalent calibre, and only just replaced Scholes with Bruno (ish), you know where the problem really is - recruitment and the ability to get the RIGHT players in for A (single) manager. we could have messi and ronaldo up top we aint winning shit if we let in goals the way we do. Im all for the debate Correct, if the spine of the team isn't right, starting with the CB pairing and moving up, you'll get what you've got now. ...which you'll never win a title with. ..unless you get very, very lucky.

Yeah its on the players but if the same things are happening again and again then we have got to be looking at Ole. I keep saying it, with the resources at hand we have got to be doing better.
Ancelotti has managerial magic, ok fair enough, are we going to say the same for the Sheffield United manager then?? If we're going to be consistent we have to have him up there too. His team bottom of table have only conceded 5 more in the league than us. That's a damning statistic.
Look at City's defensive problems. How long have they been crying out for new blood there?? They've never replaced Kompany and he was royalty but that hasn't stopped them. Not every position is going to be perfect
Up top for us, its now down to a 33 year old Edison Cavani to bag us the certain goals because the rest have been shown to be very unreliable when the pressure is on. Me or you could score a hatful too when things are easy like against Southampton
As for new signings, we have a 40million signing from last summer sitting on bench. The bench was hardly the plan for VDB. The players we go after now. we cant afford to be giving to much of a bedding in period. If we're still experimenting this time next season then we will forever be playing catch up.
Time will tell but i think we should be doing better with what we have at our disposal

We are 2nd in the league FFS ok fair enough, are we going to say the same for the Sheffield United manager then?? If we're going to be consistent we have to have him up there too. His team bottom of table have only conceded 5 more in the league than us. That's a damning statistic. We've already established our defensive weaknesses, and why, and how to fix them. Sheffield United aren't the only team that likes to play United and have their imaginary world cup final against us, been going on for years - Also called game raising, fan cheating, scum. Look at City's defensive problems. How long have they been crying out for new blood there?? They've never replaced Kompany and he was royalty but that hasn't stopped them. Not every position is going to be perfect City is the worst example you could use, especially when the last two signings were Aki and Dias - who has been outstanding. There's a reason City don't leak goals now because they addressed the problem. City are the team United used to be - well run. Up top for us, its now down to a 33 year old Edison Cavani to bag us the certain goals because the rest have been shown to be very unreliable when the pressure is on. Me or you could score a hatful too when things are easy like against Southampton Had the board signed Haaland wwhen they had the chance......

Well it's obvious to most people by now that Grealish was the preferred target for Ole and had to take the second option, VBD - like every other manager before him since Fergie. VBD will feature plenty in this run in and when Pogba leaves you'll have to have a midfield re-design anyway. Time will tell but i think we should be doing better with what we have at our disposal Second in the league atm and still stuff to play for
