PSV boss drops hint on Depay to Man United, says he'll complete transfer this summer

PSV Eindhoven are getting ready for the impending departure of Memphis Depay. The Dutch international had been rumoured to be heading out of the exit door last summer after a good World Cup for Holland under the eyes of Louis van Gaal - and the Dutch manager becoming the coach at Manchester United obviously helped oil those particular rumours and encourage reports.
Depay stayed at PSV and the reporting in the Dutch media at the time was that the footballer would wait another year before moving on to one of Europe's very best clubs. There were reports last summer about Tottenham Hotspur interest but the media in Holland didn't think Spurs were quite on that level.
PSV's technical director Marcel Brands has been quoted by Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf as saying that he'd like Depay to stay for a further year but he knows he'll be off to a big European club this summer.
Brands said the club would accept the move but not do so enthusiastically "With a heavy heart, because a great player and a great guy leaves, but we are also proud that a guy is going to make such a step made possible by our programme."
Manchester United have by far and away been the major club linked with a move for Depay and the latest words from PSV will be a big boost to their chances and a further hint that the transfer is set to happen. Last month we covered reports from Holland that Manchester United were closing in on a deal for the player.
