Really looking forward to todays game. Last one before the season starts so 90% of the team starting today will be the one against chelski. All that hard work in preseason will show how far we've come. My only worry is Matic. By far the worst player ( followed by young) in preseason. I thought it was impossible he could lose another hard of pace but that's what seems to have happened. The only plus is we now have 2 competent CBs so hopefully that will get him out of more trouble. Can't believe the season starts next week

Hard to know what's going on. If and its a big if he actually does have back problems then I suppose it does make sense he wouldn't travel.

Doogle says KO is today at 17:3 6 Cheers Ed. At least this time I would of been 6 minutes early instead of 45 late.

Shame we couldn’t end the tour with a win, we should have mind.
First half was ok, lively start and then faded for some reason. Second half was much better, we were in control throughout and played some good stuff just over did it at times. McT the stand out for me, played some lovely passes to kick start moves and he’s really finding his feet in our midfield.
Overall it’s been a good preseason, everyone is buying into Ole’s system, they all know their roles and we look like well functioning team for the first time in a while which is pleasing. Love the link up between the front four, the flexibility and interchanging but as I say there is a tendency to overplay in and around the penalty box. We also overplay playing out of the back but Maguire should help improve that. The youngsters have done really well Tuanzebe, Gomes and Greenwood should play a big part in our season.
Hopefully we can get a couple more players in, I think Bruno and Dybala could work given set up of our front four but we’re really lacking a CM/DM as after Pogba and McT there’s quite a drop off.

All in all a good preseason. First half we seemed to change our system instead of the high press we seemed to be defending in blocks. Didn't think lindelof looked comfortable playing as RCB which could be a problem with Maquires favoured position on the left. Thought he looked better second half with Axel on the right and him on the left. Matic is a disaster and if he's a regular we will have problems. The less games Young plays the better. Second half we looked better when we played the high press but it's glaringly obvious that we need at least one or even better 2 creative players. Andreas doesn't do it for me, or lingard. Thought Martial could of done a lot more especially with his pressing. Rashford is really looking up for it but I've a feeling he'll be pissing a lot of people off this season shooting from 50 yards instead of passing. We've filled 2 very important holes with Maquire and AWB but if we don't sign anyone else then we won't make top 4, although I think it's unlikely we won't be signing anyone else.

Preseason is mainly about fitness and we look much more sharper and fit than we did last season, there has been little drama and the results have been good which should raise our confidence. Ole has put in place the system and tactics he wants to use and the players have bought into it and know their roles. The question is can we apply this to competitive matches. If the squad stays as is I think it could be a learning curve season and a battle for top four again but if we can get a couple more in then I really feel we can push on and who knows possible dark horses. It is football after all, anything can happen. We have a new identity, new faces, hugely talented youngsters and are in for an exciting ride
