Atletico win 3-2 on penalties some of the worst penalties I've seen there. 3 over the bar.

What a horrid set of penalties from Bayer! Such a casual approach from some of them, you could tell who's going to balloon it!

Since their final vs Catalans, they're an absolute crap in the final stages. If there was a rule of dropping someone based on that in the FA, I'd boot them happily out of it even if they make the top 4. City are no better either, moreover even worse, but the question is would someone other do better, like Tottenham or Southampton? *Controversial*

Difficult choice what to watch. Very curious how City will show up and if they have learned anything from past experiences (probably not, more chance of a cow producing a lamb). The other tie between Borussia and Juventus looks more open so I'll probably opt for that one. And it looks like Vidal, Pogba, Reus, Hummels, Subotić and Gündogan are all playing.

It felt like a genuine privilege to watch Messi last night. There can be no doubting that he's back to his very best. If anything it was somehow made better by the fact that he didn't score, because for once the focus wasn't on his incredible finishing and goal numbers, instead we got to see the creative genius.
The stats say he created 5 chances which might not seem that much on first glance but if you look at those 5 chances, it wasn't just a square ball in midfield before someone shot from 30 yards like they can be, every single one of them he put a player in behind one on one with Joe Hart. It was a true masterclass in creative play.
Last night also showed why Joe Hart will forever be overrated, which sounds bizarre given how well he played. I say this because he is capable of this type of game, and he's produced them on the biggest stage in games against Dortmund, Madrid and now Barca. However because this is his top level, a top level that is arguably as high as any in the world, these are the performances that stick in the memory. He's far more inconsistent than other top keepers but the mistakes and poor games are often overlooked by the masses when you're capable of what we saw last night.

Draw for the quarters has been done.
PSG v Barca Atletico v Real Porto v Bayern Juve v Monaco
I'll go for Barca, Real, Bayern and Juve... Wouldn't be a bad semi lineup would it?

I make Atletico favourites in the Madrid derby. They've worked out how to play against Real and are unbeaten in 4 games against them this season. That tie could very much decide Ancelotti's future.
Agree with your winners in the rest.
