Onto the Champions League.. Benfica up next who have so far been the whipping boys of the group. The Portuguese league isn't what it once was and nor are they so we should be winning here. From the presser Rojo could be back in two weeks but no other injury updates. :lol:

Team pretty much picks itself, expect Lindelof to face his own club and Rashford didn't look fit at the weekend so I'd stick with Martial. The match is on BT Showcase for U.K. viewers  |

Jose's tactics from the Liverpool game seem to have had a lasting effect.. absolutely dreadful attacking display from us tonight but lucky for us Benfica are a woeful side.
Garbage match but 3pts and sitting pretty at the top.

I have had more excitement watching Paint Dry. If Benfica had a little more shooting ability they would have trounced us. Don't go on about injuries as an excuse we should have decent cover for the money which has been spent. Just now we will meet a top class side and get embarrassed  |

Nope, without Pogba and his forward impetus and probing you get what we've got. Cover? could have been Pereira but he fucked up big time and left on loan - good move for him, temporarily, not good for us right now, and he's now pissed the manager off royally. Carrick being injured also fucks things up; Matic, Carrick, Herrera would have been a workable alternative with Herrera at the front. Tree just tops it.
Mou has reverted to type that's all, and it's paid off. Drawn one, won one. We were never in real trouble yesterday.

Unfortunate that they are all out at the same time, I thought we'd be alright though with Matic and Herrera but they don't seem to complement each other at all in a two.
We're getting by at the minute, hopefully they aren't far off coming back with some important games coming up.
I'd also like to see what McTominay can do, looked sharp in pre season, he's direct and can run with the ball something we miss without Pogba. Hopefully he gets a chance against Swansea in the league cup.
As for the CL, we've been good Benfica match aside and have maximum points. In a great position to top the group and qualify which is much better than the past few years, it was just on the back of a disappointing display against Liverpool I thought we'd see more of a reaction.
