The story is clearly a load of bollocks. Vidic played for Inter less than 7 hours after the 'article' was published.

They've won 3 in a row and are up to 8th in the table. That's higher than I remember them being in a while. People were saying they wanted Vidic to stay, but if they've seen him defend in the decidedly slower and more defensive Serie A then I'm not sure they'd stand by that. He hasn't been good at all. Jones is a better CB than Vidic at this point and that's saying something.

Vidic was very obviously past it last season at this level. He was surviving off of past reputation and the belief that 32 isn't old for a footballer.
Whilst it isn't that old, coming off the back of his cruciate, he lost a yard of pace and was never the quickest in the first place. He was painfully slow to the ball last season, and when such a key part of his game is the aggression to win the ball early it was curtains for him.
