I just don’t understand it, referee’s in Europe or the tournaments have had their decisions overturned by either themselves or the VAR but nobody calls/called them weak if anything it shows a position of strength and bravery to correct their mistake. Nonsensical by the EPL.
In any line of work, if you are failing at a job, you either get help or get sacked but our referee's seem exempt from this.
As you say, if this keeps happening the fans are going to get wound up even more. Pleased to see a few players and managers calling it out though as the majority of pundits seem to just go along with it.

I thought VAR would be become more clearer as the season went on. Nope. Take the penalty against Robertson. When the ref gave it it went to VAR. Apparently the penalty can be rescinded for a clear and obvious mistake by the ref and not if it wasn't actually a penalty. What's the point?

Just watched the Leicester / Spuds VAR decisions, First one under 30 seconds and conclusive, no problem. The second 'offside' was a fucking disaster and everything that's wrong with the implementation of VAR. 3 fucking minutes and no indication for the crowd of WTF is going on, only for an offside decision to be given 'cause deemed 0.5 mm off, even when there is NO camera on the point at which the ball is realised. Sweet jesus, braindead.
Although MOTD mupps did say that the MLS had stopped doing this for offsides so with a bit of luck it changes here rapido. Comes down to common sense and using the tech (as it stands) where it works seamlessly. Said ages ago 30 seconds and under should be the limit for a decision or refs original instinct stands.

These pundits were banging the drum for VAR but now it’s not favouring the attackers or some nonsense - why should it - they aren’t happy.
The rules don’t use any common sense as it stands, your head could be offside but your foot onside and the balls on the ground, never scoring with the head but it is what it is. It is over the top but at least the same is being applied across the board so I can live with these decisions, happened to us with Mata’s kneecap last season, wasn’t happy but them the rules.
Main issue with VAR is the subjective calls, we’ve had yet another weekend of just going along with the on pitch referee, stonewall penalties and red cards ignored. They checked a Soton player being slapped in the face and said nothing doing, what is the point...

Watching the Barca v Granada game yesterday and the ref was unsure if it was a penalty to Granada. Stopped play, went over to the television on the side of the pitch, revised the action and gave the penalty. Not once have I seen a ref in the Premier do this unless there's a different rule here??

What is this screen you speak of... it’s England we have different rules here bud  They’ve been told not to do that as it takes too long, if there is indeed a screen

Worked ok in the world cup and worked ok last night at Granada. Think it should be used more. If the ref doubts his decision he can give himself a second opinion. The refs in the premier seem to be leaving it to studio VAR and studio VAR doesn't seem to want to go against the ref so in the end no-one wants to make the important decisions.

Worked ok for us against PSG even if it was a bit harsh

Horror show this weekend.
In Spurs/Watford game alone you had a stonewall penalty not given, a goal in which the ball was handled given and they even cocked up the decision on the big screen.

I’m done with it, just a complete shit show. Are they intentionally sabotaging it? I just don’t see how they remove it now it’s in.
If it’s staying we need better officials, get them trained up to specifically use it, referee’s have far too much protection from their ineptitude in this league.

Spent five minutes looking at god knows what on our second goal, Liverpool handball and potential offside ‘cleared up’ in less than 10 seconds..
Pile of shit.
