Job done Wasn't pretty but it was effective, again took our foot off the gas second half when we should be more ruthless.

forget the opposition, thought we did well today, particularly the first half, you need a solid unit before you start adding the flashing lights and party tricks

With Carrick playing, as I have said before those in front of him can " have a go " knowing he and the defence can pick up the bits when things go pear shaped.
Whoever told me Pogba was not playing, injured, is going to get a swift kick up the Arsen Wenger.
Good first half.

Agree with Tom here, Carrick definitely brings some calmness into the team and kind of glues it all together. We also have some ridiculous stat that we've won every game that Carrick has played in and the likes of Schmeichel noticed it too.
With him it's true that we lose a lot of the pace but we should adjust the line up based on our opponents- maybe against the likes of Liverpool and City he won't be the best option, but against slower moving teams he's done great this season. Not to mention being paired with Pogba and Herrera would provide the protection plus the speed.
It's a shame that Morgan hasn't stepped up to the level yet.
As for the game itself I don't have much to add, like everyone else I'm slightly disappointed that we did not keep the intensity in the second half or at least keep a clean sheet, but hopefully that will be a lesson learned.
What do you guys make of Mou's comments about Smalling and Shaw?

Yeah still can't believe how poor Swansea were. Face bigger sterner tests even just from other teams of Swansea's ilk. Would have taken a collapse after the excellent first not to come away with 3 points.
As for the Mou comments. Well its disappointing to hear (about Shaw and Smalling that is) Now moreso than ever is when we need everyone pulling together and maintaing a steady ship.
Mourinho is right whatever about whether him doing it publicly. Thats another debate Not that any of us are really surprised by it though even in his short space of time at United????
About to watch United in Press now so it should interesting to here their (the writers) take on it

You could also say if Jones plays we win ......... looooool
For me Jose is out of order on Smalling and Shaw as he has been with Basti, Darmian Micky, Morgan oh yes and Rojo is now a hero along with Young and Roo
A public "flogging" of a Utd player is never required and Jose has to address this in the dressing room. Any excuse for the media to have a crack at us is more than we need right now. Man management skills seem lacking ..... Most managers support their players regardless of the back room tensions.... but in fairness we knew we would get this when he came didn't we ? Fergie also had his moments with Stam Beckham Ruud Keano etc but this was by episode and not a constant feature.
I will always respect what LVG did for Shaw psychological support to help him cope with his price tag, young age and moving to Old Trafford then Individual pre season training customized for his needs. Public statements on his key role that second season and benefits were reaped until that tragic maniac tackle..... Shaw fought back but hasn't looked right yet ... not sure how he will cope with this crap on top.
Both aren't selected for England meaning they can concentrate on getting fit again ... but mind games can often carry more weight than a knock
I would prefer a strong outward stance ....... but Jose is creating his own special mix of chaos within the squad .....it's definitely not the Utd way.
As a fan I really don't want to witness this week in week out ...Gaining stability, settling things down and getting the best out of a motivated and tight squad ....... how ?. With him nobody can feel secure - one week you're flavour of the month and the next you're not even in the match squad. Madrid exit, Chelsea fiasco Mou needs to look in the mirror.
A few good books might come out in a year or so to give an insight into the reigns of Moyes, LVG and now Jose ....... I really would want that insight right now to see how a squad this good on paper (and cash spent) can so seriously under perform and looks at odds with themselves on the pitch.
It makes it even harder to admit that Klopp is really doing the trick at Liverpool ..... progressively and in relative calm making constant improvements .... and most of all taking 3 points regularly

Agree with what's been said, I don't think it's a good strategy to keep calling out on players, I think his man management of certain players has been poor and if he carries on he is going to alienate them and we'll lose some potentially some talented players.
The timing is also poor, we just cruised to a solid victory and still he is taking digs at certain players, hardly a confidence booster for the team is it? If you aren't happy with them do it behind closed doors especially at that time. I'm not surprised though and he's shifting the focus anywhere other than his results.
Mourinho is the one who needs to pull his socks up and sort his personal life out as well.

I don't know about that, I feel like last time he criticized them they came out and played better. Now I would prefer if he does it in a more constructive way, but what did he say that was so bad? At the end he simply pointed that "There is a difference between the brave, who want to play at any cost, and the ones for whom a little pain can make a difference," .
I understand that everybody has a different degree of pain tolerance, but then again we've seen Valencia play with basically one eye, or a broken arm, De Gea saving penalties with a broken thumb, Pogba with a thigh strain etc, Rooney on countless occasions playing with an injury, I can just keep going...At that top level chances are that you're never in top top shape because of the intensity of the league and the additional games from the Europa league.
Mourinho is his own man, whether you agree with his way or not, he would never do things in a different way to please media, fans or whoever.
