Yeah, hugely disappointing result, but.. we knew it would take time to come together. Signs are there which is encouraging

Not going to hear much from Jie because she is Speechless, but then she can Type.
When we started off I thought my 4 - 1 prediction was a safe bet but poor shot decisions changed all that. OK I know that they only have a split second to decide but heck they are professionals after all.
I am a bit nervous about comments such as " need time " , " coming together " . Heard that with LVG.

I echo those thoughts.
Played pretty well today bar the finishing, simply put Zlatan and Pogba should be burying those chances and on another day they will. Collection of errors for the goal conceded but we were in control bar 20 mins at the start of the second half and should have put it to bed or seen it out at 1-0. Just one of those days.
Work to be done for us but there's a long way to go.

I am a bit nervous about comments such as " need time " , " coming together " . Heard that with LVG. Fact of life, teams take time to gel and get what the new manager wants, sometimes it happens overnight, other times longer. City and the scousers have dropped lucky but there's nothing to say the wheels won't come off at some point for them, in fact I'll guarantee it. We just need to take advantage when it happens. |

I know some of the comments are in Jest but if our some total of ambition is to get one more point than City well the Lord help us. We were at home, The Theatre of Dreams with the Stretford End playing 12th man !
We threw away 2 points in reality.

 These are not the stats of a side that's not working. And yes, stats are not everything but look at the stats against Leicester:  So I even disagree with your 'needing time to gel' because the team is playing well, all they need is to finish these chances and we're golden. If you add some some focus in defense as well and we would be flying over fixtures like this one. |

Mourinho said the other day that they were still stuck in LvG mentality and thinking to a degree. You can see them slowly breaking out of it with stats and performances like that.
It'll take time for them to fully get out of it and when you consider how regimented the regime under VG where you had to wipe your arse a certain way, at a certain time of day, for two years, it's going to take more than two months of a new manager to shift the mindset and playing style 100%.
No doubt we're on the way though, still lots to be positive about.

Stats are all well and good but are open to interpretation:
United: Shots 26 - 10 on target - 1 Goal. That means 16 shots were off-target, more than 50%. 1 Goal from 10 on target is 10% success rate.
Stoke: Shots 7 - 5 on target - 1 Goal. That means 2 shots were off-target, only 40%, .... 1 Goal from 5 on target is 20% success rate.
United 64% possession versus Stoke's 36% means Stoke got the 1 Goal with approx 50% of United's effort.
Fouls: United 14 to Stoke's 9 " More commitment or more desperation ? Lack of discipline perhaps ?
Yellow cards: United 3 Stoke 0 ( see above )
Corners: United 13 - Stoke 2, positive results of these I am not sure.
So, Stats are how you Interpret them !
Do not get me wrong. We are far better this season and I support the team and Jose 100%.
( International break so lets have something to debate - oomtom )

Jie, I agree we are much better this season. The team is more positive and attack minded. My point was that just trotting out Stats is open to interpretation and to me the only stat that really counts is Did we Win. Yes we will improve with time ! Yes we will challenge for the title ! But for hecks sake do not let complacency creep in, Urgency is the currency of Right Now.
