Positives:
Bailly was immense.
Shaw looks completely over his injury.
Zlatan scored the one chance he got and I love the joy it seemed to bring him.
Lingard's goal was sublime and he's done himself absolutely no harm in terms of his long term future here. Reckon he's a proper Jose player.
We look like we want to attack Blind is still playing pretty damn well at centre back considering he's not a centre back.
Tony V continues his impressive pre season and bags another assist.
Also think Mourinho continued to conduct himself brilliantly. Hope he continues and keeps his pedantic twat side locked up. On a side note it's refreshing as fuck to see a manager on the sidelines barking orders.
Negatives:
Rooney was shocking. His touch, his passing, his shooting. Everything was completely off.
The midfielders, individually didn't do too bad besides Fellaini's brainfart but as a pair they're a complete write off as we know from experience. Hopefully it was just Jose spreading the minutes around the team.
Still struggling to get over LVG's slow build up play. It's early days and we'll get there eventually but we're still not moving the ball as quick as I'd like. Pogba will probably rectify that, as well as the point above.
Overall it was a good day, we were the better team and got a deserved victory and the Pogba saga is finally nearing it's end.

I have mixed feelings about this game. I know it is a one off and I am pleased we got the shield. But it was not the urgency I wanted to see. De Gea, Blind, Shaw, Valencia, Lindegaard all seemed up for it.
Rooney was not good, and is it me or has Jose a beef with Mata ? Zlatan eventually found his feet but it is early in his introduction to the BPL.

He came to visit
I agree with all you said above Jamie, now that we have one of the best midfielders things should start picking up and adding more pace through the center. I'm hoping Schneiderlin would finally come to his own, not that I don't enjoy Carrick, but unfortunately we can't count on him week in week out.
There seems to be a group of fringe players forming in Schneiderlin, Darmian, Jones and possibly Rojo that would be warming the bench.
As for Mourinho's supposed beef with Mata - I think it's utter nonsense. Both of them are professionals but the media would try to create something out of nothing as usual.
