Not much to take from the match to be honest as Villa clearly weren't arsed, it was pretty much a pre season friendly/training game.
You'd have thought we'd have wanted to improve our goal difference or at least get some shooting practice in but no we were quite happy just recycling possession, we could have easily scored 3 or 4 with hardly any effort anyway if we were more clinical.
Rashford scoring and had a good first half, decent run out for Rooney and a few flashes from Memphis is about it.
As for Villa, I can't remember a side being so spineless, they are fucked so why not have a go? Only when Gestede came on did they have a nibble, the rest of their play was pathetic, Ayew spent more time rolling around than he did on the ball. If they take this attitude into the championship then they'll seriously struggle.

Well judging by everyone's comments good thing I missed this one. Honestly can't bring myself to watch it, but I saw the highlights and Rashford's goal was nice. None of the other teams did us a favor, so I'm not convinced we'll make the top 4 even if we win all of our remaining games.

I actually believe that we will make it to the top 4 if we win all of our remaining games. Don't forget that City and Arsenal are facing each other and either or both are bound to drop points, that's inevitable. Add to that the fact that they still have some complicated games ahead, like teams fighting for survival (City play away at Newcastle!, away Vs the Saints which is never an easy game, and Swansea away could always be a tricky fixture, whereas Arsenal play Sunderland away, City away, welcome Norwich...) Plenty of points can be dropped in those tricky fixtures. In all fairness, I think we ourselves will fuck it up by dropping stupid and unecessary points like we have done all season. I am sure either Arsenal or City (or both) will drop the points to allow us a window to make top-4, but that we won't be able to take advantage of that. Or perhaps this is the time when we replicate last season's good run and build a momentum for 5 games?

I thought the 1-0 result just about sums up where United under LVG are. Lack lustre, get a goal up and then fall back and defend. I was actually hoping AV would score to see if that got any response from LVG or the team. My prediction was a win 3-0 and that was my conservative expectation. Top 4 is a dream and top 6 is a possibility. So sad to be negative but you have to be realistic.

That's probably the thing matt, we're the ones to blame for our current position - if it wasn't for the horrific December, we could have secured the top 4 even with our lacklustre football. To be fair, I'm getting kind of used to the idea of us playing another year in the Europa league - obviously I'd be happy if we get the top 4, but realistically we're right where we are supposed to be (if not higher).
