Finally a game where our forwards make some movements and where our full backs push higher: it makes such a difference. Finally a game with more attacking intent, that was refreshing to say the least. Hopefully we start building up a momentum like we did last season pretty much around this time as well. Who knows? Perhaps this is LVG's favourite time of the year. On a different note, it's obvious LVG has given our players more freedom and more liberty attacking wise. He can say whatever he wants (that he does give them freedom, etc.), our players are more "relaxed" and less predictable: ain't no robots anymore

Best performance of the season along with Everton away. No complaints about 1 aspect of that game. Everyone played well (even Fellaini), 3 well worked goals including a sublime finish from Martial. Could've and probably should've scored at least 5/6.
The other pleasing aspect was that we defended well for the majority of the game, DDG didn't make 1 save to my memory. We even got to see Pereira (although I think he could've give him 15 mins instead of 5).
Interestingly enough we had less possession than Stoke, if anything tells LVG that possession isn't the be all and end all of premier league football, the fact our 2 best performances of the season have come when having less possession than the opposition should do the job. It also appeared that we were playing a 4-3-3 for most of the game with Fellaini and Mata in front of Carrick. Hope this is how we setup for the rest of the season in terms of formation. In terms of individuals: Martial was absolute class again, caused havoc for them all evening, CBJ grows with every game, great cross for the first goal and did great defensively but the guy who will probably go unnoticed is Carrick. I thought he ran the game and brought calmness yet penetration to our game with his passing.
Great all round performance. Happy days.

Both Mata and Lingard said as much after Derby, good to see. Still not made a dent into Spuds tho yet. Still 5 behind the leading pack. Happy tho.

This is a welcome surprise. First time in a while I'm looking forward to our highlights. Sounds like we played pretty well so credit where its due. We can only do our bit now and keep in touch

The performance has put me in such a good mood that I think I'll watch MOTD myself tonight for a change. Be good to hear someone speak about us in positive terms for a change. I also won't feel jealous watching other teams scoring goals.

By the way Giggs was absent tonight due to a family illness, not because he's taking over at Celtic.

anyway back 4 picks itself with Valera, smalling, blind and Johnson. Did we sign the child molester? He's not gonna do much good as a LB I'm afraid  I actually don't mind Rooney up front, he's been getting us goals and if something ain't broke... yeah free transfer into the club, paying him with an ice cream van anyway Rooney up front still wouldn't envoke as much fear, not is as much of a terror as Martial. Rooney has been alright against pretty meh opposition (an out of sorts Derby and some lower end teams, though he did score against the scousers i guess) at this stage of his career don't think Rooney is exactly that deadly #9 to start up front. Martial more of that killer instinct

actually better yet, why not just start rooney and martial up front and just go full Mike Bassett
btw any reason why the donkey started over Herrera? is he LVG's love child
anyway very good win it looks like, forgot the game was on (oops), but it looks like we started well enough with 2 quick goals and scored shortly after half time. I mean thats very solid.
we're still 5pts off 4th though, so we got a bit of improving before we catch up to the spuds and gooners

Maybe I'm a lucky charm Great stuff last night, flowing football, urgency and intent from the off. Martial causing havoc and that second goal was just a peach. There's been a definite improvement since the turn of the year, moving the ball quicker, instead of 5 or 6 touches it's now 2 or 3 which makes the world of difference. That early first goal was crucial, settles the players and keeps the crowd on side which I think is vital at home at the minute. Stoke were poor but you can only play what's in front of you and our performance was top notch, CBJ is so calm and composed, played some beautiful crosses and we could have scored 5 or 6, should have really. Carrick is vital and I think it's one of key areas to look at in the summer, as we have no one else with his passing range and ability. In terms of top four, West Ham are right behind us but beyond that there's a nice cushion, 5 points off fourth at the moment, everyone in that current top four is inconsistent so could drop out and when they do we need to gobble it up. Expected Spuds to win yesterday but they have Watford and City up next so we need to carry on our performances and wins. At worst we'll finish 5th this season.

Mata as well looking to be back to his best against Derby and yesterday, finding spaces and playing the ball forward instead of turning back and passing it sideways or holding onto it for too long. Involved in all three goals, should have score himself as well, how he headed Darmians cross over when it was easier to score Fully worthy of his place at the moment, lots of positives to take from last night, hopefully we can gain some consistency and replicate it on Sunday.
