Glad he's fucked Mata off, don't get why Fellaini's in central midfield though. Stick Herrera alongside Schneiderlin and give Pereira a game Completely agree.

At least tonight we have pace out wide, so that's not something he can complain about at the end of the game. Martial and Lingard have moreover both had an excellent season so far.

Is it so hard to understand the restrictions it puts on the team always playing with 2 holding CMs? We need something different which is hard to do playing the same system week in week out.

Exactly. Win or lose tonight, it's just another game he's showing a complete unwillingness to try anything new. Prepare yourselves guys, I have a feeling it'll be a long night.. Hope I'm wrong.

For the record, I would like to point out that I enjoyed this game despite the final result. Think we showed a lot of passion and desire and given another 5 minuted we could have scored a 4th. Looking at that game tonight, Fellaini was atrocious but we knew that from the beginning, for the life of me I can't understand what's wrong with Carrick but I believe Van Gaal had a good reason not to play him. Rooney deserves a lot of praise today, lead his team and scored today - can't ask for more. Lingard and Martial have been the soul today, hope they're fit enough to play against Liverpool. Looking at the bigger picture - we shouldn't be anywhere near drawing with Newcaslte, we still looked really static... nobody is ignoring the obvious flaws, but not much we can do about it so I'd rather see more of what we saw today. If it can make Van Gaal stand up, it's good enough for me

Good game but it's a huge disappointment to not take all 3 points and we have only ourselves to blame.
Our best 1st half display for months. If it wasn't for some lapse defending we'd have gone in at HT 2-0 up and deservedly. Full of attacking intent and pace out wide helps as well. Thought Lingard and Martial looked very dangerous in the 1st half.
The 2nd started pretty average but we stepped it up a gear and Jesse missed an absolute sitter. After that it took them drawing level from a deserved peno for us to kick on and try to score again and Wayne puts us back in front with a beaut. Game over I thought, we're not going to let them back into it I thought.
Absolute joke. Added to the poor defending was the fact we missed 3 great chances as Fellaini had also had a golden opportunity and Roo in the 1st half. But tbh you shouldn't need to score 4 goals to beat Newcastle away.
Nothing wrong with the spirit or fight in the side. Nothing wrong with the intent either. But there are still clear deficiencies there. Can't seem to defend and attack well in the same game.
Very disappointed and despite what was a good game to watch and a big improvement on our recent attacking displays we still drop 2 points and could drift further away from 4th.
On individuals. I don't get how Fellaini lasts 90 minutes. I don't get how he starts the game for that matter. Mind boggling. The whole defence bar Young were sloppy as fuck as well.

I've written this on that shoutbox shite three times now and nothing...
We are too rigid and anything a bit jinky with pace catches us out like it's just passing us by....players are getting caught and looking over their shoulders for the next guy in the next zone to take things on.

What Jamie said
Smalling had a poor one, somewhat at fault for the first, the second just pure stupidity and he shouldn't get involved, Newcastles set pieces were poor all night. The third goal we had numerous chances to clear the ball, just shoddy defending.
We should have killed it with our chances though, Lingard and Fellaini should be burying those. Fellaini's a nuisance but he's a passenger, Schneiderlin or whoever it is is basically left on their own to defend, hopefully Carrick or Basti are back at the weekend. Newcastle out numbered us and out powered us at times tonight in midfield.
Our attacking intent was positive though, Herrera stepped up to the plate, Lingard, Martial, Memphis positive in their play and a constant threat. Rooney was excellent and deservedly MOTM.

Since win over Watford in November, 7 points from a possible 24; Leicester (A) West Ham (H) Bournemouth (A) Norwich (H) Stoke (A) Chelsea (H) Swansea (H) Newcastle (A)
Doesn't make for great reading no matter how you dress it up.
No idea how we are going to turn it around. For the first time I'm seriously starting to worry about a top 4 finish. Best we can hope for is Leicester to fall away and that we manage to stave off the rest below us right now.
At that point in November when we were also about to exit the champions league, the league was the absolute minimum or at least compete for it. Now I honestly feel we've a fight on our hands for a top 4 finish.

Not very encouraging when you see that stat written out like that, 7 points out of 24. Leicester should surely decline before the end of the season leaving ourselves and Spurs for 3rd and 4th as I don't think that Arsenal or City will drop enough points between now and then to allow us any higher than 3rd this term, which I would take right now in a heartbeat. Thank God for the demise of Chelsea this year otherwise even 4th would be extremely difficut for us on our current run of form.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking more or less. Forget Van Gaal, for the time being we need to secure that Top 4 spot with or without him and even with the downfall of Chelsea it would still be a tough job.

We're over that serious slump by the looks of it. Never looked like losing the last 3 few games and probably should have won all 3. I think we'll make top 4 probably finish 4th. That isn't good enough though. Last season was the season to "Just make sure we finish top 4". To be doing it all over again the season after shows progress has not been made at all, no matter how solidly we started the season.
Liverpool game is a biggie. We've performed well in nearly every game vs the big sides since LVG came in, besides Arsenal away this season. Need to keep that going and make sure we take 3 points.

Though we played pretty well going forward. That big fell offered nothing was just a nuisance around for them and us. He needs to be dropped asap.
