Just because you don't have one, doesn't mean you don't care... just like a Ferrari.

Who does he play for? Sounds half Irish half German. Is there such a thing as a reliable piss head?

Poor in the first half. Much better in the 2nd and Martial won us the game, first with his superb header for the first goal and secondly for pissing over the Swansea defence for Wayne to sublimely finish our second. The most pleasing thing today is not the performance as it was still a long way off what we should be aiming for but it was the spirit of the side to go and find the winner after being pegged back against the run of play.
It will ensure LVG keeps his job for the time-being and hopefully we can kick on now with a few much needed additions in January.

Good win.
We were the better side, it wasn't a great football match but the players dug in when needed and work hard all over the pitch. We still have our issues, lack of quality in attack and a lack of pace but with some good additions we can fix that, can't fault the effort.

Positives: great spirit, willingness to win, Martial showing the massive player he will become, Rooney playing a bit better as well, showing more positive signs.
Negatives: this is my personal opinion, but have been thinking for a while that Blind and Darmian as our fullbacks is not working: they lack pace to defend, they lack power and physicality to face tougher opponents, and they lack pace to support our attacks and keep the opposition defence on their toes. That's becoming a real issue because we lack numbers when we attack. Valencia and Shaw being out is an issue imo. I think LVG should also think about rebalancing his defensive options: add some pace down the flanks, and buy one tough CB with an impeccable injury record (because as much as Jones and Rojo are improving, they are totally unreliable injury wise).
It's funny: the only area where we seem to be fine is in central midfield: how is that for a change?

The true sign of whether LVG is the right man for us beyond this season are his comments after the game. He said we were better in the first half compared to the second supposedly.

Never commented on individual player performances earlier. I was very disappointed with the midfield and Mata. Schweinsteiger has really declined in recent months. When he first came he brought calmness and intelligence to the side, now he's sloppy as fuck and putting pressure on the defence too often. Schneiderlin is just back from injury but has also been off the pace and again much sloppier than you'd expect from a player like him. Herrera isn't effecting the side at all right now and I had enough of Mata a while back and I don't see it changing. For all his brilliance and class, his lack of pace and strength is a killer. I thought Rooney was much better today in terms of his overall play. He sprayed some beautiful balls about and his ball retention was much better as well. The part he played in the first goal, making space for Martial to score and his sublime finish for the 2nd capped off one of his best performances of the season. That being said he still didn't offer enough of a presence in the area for most of the game and has to drop back to number 10 if and when we bring in a striker. Martial was class as I've pointed out in his personal thread. He's a threat whenever he gets on the ball, it's amazing how you see the fear of god in the eyes of a defender when someone with raw pace just runs at them. His header was top class as well. Then there was Young who for the first time this season performed like he was doing last season, especially in the 2nd half. These performances have made it clear to me what I want our side to be going forward for the rest of this season and it looks like this: Dave Whoever the fuck is fit Schneiderlin Herrera Lingard/New winger Rooney Martial/Lingard New striker Speaks for itself really. I'd like people to not forget about Lingard too quickly when talking about a new wide man. He's been excellent when played this season and is getting better. I also think as good as Martial has been he still needs to have some pressure taken off him and could do with being rotated every once in a while. We all know Rooney is better at 10 especially if his recent upturn in form continues and we all know a new striker is a must.
Above everything I just want quality options in the side. Looking at the bench today, from an attacking point of view the only changes you could see being made was Fellaini or Memphis coming on. One is a route one tree and the other is just a tree. It isn't good enough.

should have had at least 2 in the first half, our product in the final third was pretty bad but we had a good second half, Martial is a beast and this was rooney's best game all season, he finally played with some pace and some direct play, going for goal and really giving their defense all sorts of hell

Young was motm for me. He put in 4-5 quality crosses into the box but we were lacking players in the box! especially in the first half. That changed in the 2nd half and we got the goal from Martial.
There were also more movement, interchanges and one twos between players in the 2nd half that were really good. Would love to see more of that in the future. I would avoid playing Memphis at the moment. His mind is somewhere else. Play Young on the right and get Darmian at RB.

Dave Whoever the fuck is fit Schneiderlin Herrera Lingard/New winger Rooney Martial/Lingard New striker Pretty much what I want. Martial and Lingard have been our best wide forwards so far. With a quality striker, we would truly have something on our hands attacking wise.

why not play Young on the right? Lingard has been ok for us...no phenomenal. I prefer Young tbh.

Lingard was great before getting injured. You expect him to be phenomenal despite it being his first season as a serious first team player? Ridiculous.

I think that's a bit harsh as the midfielders have been in and out, Herrera, Schneiderlin, Basti coming back from injuries and bans respectively, they need a run of games to get going again.
We have changed it though, Basti is getting further forward leaving Schneiderlin to break up the counters which he is brilliant at, I still think Morgan can have more of an impact going forward. He is capable of scoring goals if he was given some more freedom but under LVG I don't think we'll see that, likewise I don't think we'll see Him and Herrera as a two. I've been disappointed with Basti but again he's capable and with the more freedom he is getting now should bring much more confidence.
There's been a marked improvement in our play, looking forward much more often, prepared to take risks and try things out, just not had the decision making or quality in attack which has been the story for a few seasons now. Off the ball we've been back to our best as well, pressing well as team and winning the ball up high, I don't mind the fouls as they are trying to win the ball back, being aggressive which we have lacked at times this season.
Rooney as you say was better yesterday, much more fire in him and a beautiful finish for the goal but still not causing enough problems as a 9 for me.
A striker with be tougher to come by in Jan, so an attacker/winger more likely, someone with pace down the left or right, Lingard on the other flank and get Martial upfront where he belongs.
