Cech's been pretty shit for both their goals. Same old fragile Arsenal. I didn't get what all the fuss was about before the start of the season and this compounds my opinion on them. I don't see them as genuine title contenders. That isn't a knee jerk reaction off this game, I thought it anyway. They need a lot more than a solid goalkeeper.

Payet has been quality for West Ham today, looks like he'll be a very good signing.

2-2 in the other game.
Yeah I agree on a Arsenal, they flatter to deceive, nice football but that's it for me. No different this season, Cech although poor today is a good signing but as you say they need a lot more than a decent keeper. If they got a striker say Benzema and a top midfielder plus one or two others then yes I'd say they could win the league, that's not going to happen with Arsene though. Gooners getting booed
I'm really looking forward to watching Stoke and I can't believe I just said that.

I think they'll do Liverpool here, looking at the 2 sides on paper there's not an awful lot between them and I say that sincerely.

The cech signing is like buying a 50 inch tv for a box from. Until they get a proper holding midfielder and cb thats not going to change

I honestly though Arsenal would be better this season. Judging from the first match - same old same old.
So, Chelsea dropped points, Arsenal dropped points, Liverpool and City next? I know we didn't have the greatest of matches, but I'll take the 3 points.

It's only 1 game but it's there in black and white for all to see. Arsenal have strengthened in 1 area, which is not enough if they want to challenge.
Chelsea are tough to weigh up. They were the best side in England last year but did at times look average and made me think if any of the challengers improved enough they could give them a right challenge. But who do you take out of their 11? Their starting 11 is still probably the best in the country so they just needed to strengthen the squad which I don't think they've particularly done.
City haven't improved their 11, they've thrown a tonne of money at Sterling who's a decent player but is nowhere near the finished article and there's no guarantees he gets there, Delph isn't exactly an upgrade on what they've got either. Add to that they've lost Dzeko and Milner who were both very important players for them.
Liverpool have signed a boat load of players, some decent business has been done and they've no doubt improved their side and squad but I don't think the signings are good enough to challenge for the title, maybe good enough to go close for a champions league place though.
We've strengthened significantly, 2 world class cm's, a young exciting attacker in Memphis and a reliable right back to challenge Valencia in Darmian. Add to that we'll almost certainly make at least 1 maybe more quality signing before the window closes. We've lost RVP and Di Maria. Neither will be a major loss, 1) if Rooney stays fit or we sign another striker 2) if we bring in Pedro as Di Maria's replacement. The issue for us is De Gea's uncertainty but that will be sorted in due course and could still yet result in us getting Ramos..
For me we are the side to watch this season, the form we produced towards the end of the season in that run against the big sides was breathtaking. The players have had a season to get used to the manager as well.

I really don't think Chelsea needed much improvement transfers-wise. The only place where I think they could have done with a signing was someone who could replace Costa if injured/suspended/rested. They got Falcao and from what I've seen, it's same old Falcao.
Other than that, their team and squad is solid. Definitely the favorites.
As for City, I think they need to invest in their defense, which isn't as solid as it used to be. Also, Toure is starting to age so there needs to be some investment there. I think Sterling will be alright to be honest. However, they should have signed a striker. Aguero tends to pick up injuries often and they really don't have another good striker in my opinion.
As for us, I think Smalling needs a better cb to accompany him. Maybe Rojo will be able to do a good job there - we'll see. I am worried about Rooney though. He hasn't impressed me and I know that he usually needs a few games to build up his form, but he's been unimpressive as of late. I would feel more comfortable if we had another good striker competing with him.

Nice summary. Fair points on Chelsea's activity but they've got no proper competition in midfield, all those teams mentioned will rue missing out on Schneiderlin. I don't disagree with pundits who say we are missing in areas, need a CB and a striker as there is no guarantee with Rooney but the rest of those clubs are in the same boat they all need a top CB and a top striker (Chelsea as a back up, maybe not City) yet we are the ones who get the shit. We've signed 5 players already, possibly 2 more, everything cannot be fixed in one window. Yesterday's performance wasn't great but we had five debutants, Chelsea and Arsenal had one each, after the game it's like United need this and that. Louis got work to do, no fucking shit, so frustrating this squad though is exciting and once we gel, watch out.

We signed fucking Bastian SCHWEINSTEIGERRRRR for fuck sake, we've got one of the most exciting talents in world football, a youngish full back to finally sort out the RB position but no we need this and we need that.

That's whats getting my back up Dave. United's defence isn't good enough to challenge supposedly but these same people claim Arsenal are going to go close who for me have a much worse defence than we do. They need a first choice left back and centre back. We could do with an experienced centre half but other than that out defence is very good, lots of strength in depth.
United need another striker incase Rooney gets injured and stuff. But City and Chelsea don't? Falcao and Remy as back up for Costa isn't much better than our options and neither are City's if at all. Then you have Arsenal with Giroud as first choice who is nowhere near the other 3's first choice strikers.
Our midfield is as good as anyone elses in the league. Arsenal don't have a decent holding mid and City have a much overrated midfield that is on the decline and what have they done? Signed Delph who is decent but is not going to improve them.

They haven't done for years. All I heard in the last 5 years of Fergie's reign was how United were short and wouldn't be good enough.

Good. I think it's funny
Although there is a few of them who have gone on record and hedged their bets with the proviso 'the transfer window hasn't closed yet'
