It would make perfect sense for him to go to the US however I'm not sure he wants to, he sounds happy to stay at United even if that means not playing or playing with the kids. Maybe he enjoys a mentor role, who knows...

If only he had the same desire to play for us. Honestly I think he really wants to play for us, whether to prove himself or for whatever reason. Don't think he is just saying that and is in truth only thinking about the money this contract is giving him. He just should have shown that more in the past when he was injured, that he wants to get fit for us, not only playing for Germany. His performance at the Euros did also have much more determination that some lacklustre appearances for us. I wonder if he gets a chance by Mourinho now that he is certainly here and paid by us till January. Schweinsteiger seems not willing to cancel his contract.

I'm not quite sure what's up with his contract now and what he and Mourinho talked about.. there's a lot of talk from the press, but nothing coming from the club. From all I've seen he still wants to play for us, but he's not going to considering the players we currently have, but I'd be glad if he could just go and train with the U21s - I'm sure they'll benefit from his experience.

I received from some random person on the Facebook page a petition to return Schweinsteiger to the starting XI which pissed me off more than it should have. But I really don't get it - the manager has made a decision - is it so hard to accept it? It's not like Schweinsteiger was setting the world alight last season. And even if he was, Mourinho has made it pretty clear that he's not a part of his plans. Unless Pogba, Herrera, Schneiderlin, Fellaini and possibly Rooney and Blind get injured.
As much as I like Basti and aknowledge his contribution to world football and at United, he's not gonna play - deal with it.
Also petitions are stupid.

no surprise
The recent Carrick+Herrera+Pogba midfield is my favorite.
Still Bastian over Fellaini for me (& maybe Schneiderlin but age counts for the frenchman)

It's got bugger all to do with quality or ability, or even his fitness (you'd still get 10+ quality games a season out of him) but everything to do with the size of his wages and getting him off the books as quickly as humanly possible. Soon as Pogba and Ibra came in he was out.

I agree and if VG would have cracked top 4 he'd have been in the side...along with Spurs Eriksen by all accounts (tells you the direction VG was looking toward).

we have to move on, Mou is not going to leave OT soon so Bastian has no option, there is no way for him to get back in the squad. I always said there are good reasons for the decision to leave him out (age, fitness, number of players in his position, Bastian's behavior when ill) but I would have let him train with the squad.

I guess pragmatism overrides everything when you can't score for shit
Good news for me, he'll always offer something going forward, goals or assists. Why not? He's on the books and we desperately need wins. Pray we can get 10-15 games out of him.

I'm not against it either - A World Cup winning captain could only have positive expereince and impact to rub off on the youngsters even if he doesn't play
What's more puzzling is why now ?
Board directive, decision from Mou, pressure from squad players, some legal aspects of Schweini's contract................. who knows?
