Mitten has a point, the youth setup needs improvement but with the problems we have been having with the first teams it's no surprise that we've neglected it.
As for City, until they produce someone and bring them through its all talk as far as I'm concerned. They've been harping on about their academy for fives years, yet we are still waiting.
Youth will always get a chance here.

Altough I admire and respectfully appreciate what SAF did for us during his tenure we cannot escape the fact that in his twilight years he put himself first and left the team in a shambles when he retired. Therefore we are now forced to buy in a team to make sure we are not left behind while waiting for our youth to develop. I feel sorry for the fringe youths who may miss their opportunity because we have to assemble a new established team to make sure we can stay in the race with the rest of the elite and not take the chance on their potential because if it goes wrong it could take us years to get back in the race. Giggs, Scholes, Evra, Vidic and Rio all on their way out with one more title left in them to satisfy SAF'S own agenda and RVP and Carrick getting over the hill at the time with no replacements lined up for continuity leaves us having to ignore the youth development for a while and simply splash the cash to keep us in the hunt with the rest of Europe's big guns.

Dude, get a grip of your brain this morning  Fergie was a manager and worked with what he had, and had to, since the Glazer takeover. Any physical structural changes at the club involving the upgrading of any facilitates, including an entire youth set up and extra coaching staff is down to finance - which the Glazers couldn't provide because they had no real money of their own and until their debt repayments were more manageable the club was in a straight jacket, which meant Ferguson was. It's a fucking miracle Fergie sustained the success he did. It was only his driving force that kept the entire club winning.

 love the first comment.
I get what he's trying to say as in we don't need financially to develop players, however I (and everyone with half a brain) could go on for days why we should have

St Pep would rather have 6 subs than give the opportunity to a youth player, kick in the nuts I’d say, hopefully City’s youngsters start to wise up. On the same day McTominay starts over a 90m pound player

Look at the quality out on loan atm, if they're given a chance and actually step up and make it then we're in very good shape.

really, i thought it's a lot better than before. We have Lingard and Rashford in the squad now. TFM, Pereira and Tuanzebe on loan. Once they come back in we're going to have a lot of youth in and around the squad.

Who’d have thought Mourinho would be getting praise for promoting youth, it was a concern I had when we hired him but to be fair to him he has embraced the clubs legacy and ambitions. Until Huddersfield Rashford had made an appearance in every game and Lingard has become a prominent member for the first team, not only that but he has brought through McTominay who had no experience to speak of and has established him into in the squad with significant minutes.
Long may it continue, with Tuanzebe and TFM coming back next season and Gomes etc. in the pipeline our youth is looking good. You will always get chances at United.
