Yeah, I think the last 3 results have masked the progress made. People are too quick to focus on the negative, some of the stuff I saw written about the West Brom game beggared belief. There is still work to be done in both protecting against the counter and breaking down a highly compact and organised defence but our actual control of games is a million miles further on than it was at the beginning of the season.
Even when teams have tried to break out and press we're keeping the ball with little fuss and forcing teams back into their shape. The Everton game is the only game which has disappointed me, West Brom was nothing more than poor finishing.

Yeah, 3 defeats in a row without scoring but only 1 poor performance.
The Chelsea game was a good performance, Mourinho said the game went exactly how they wanted it to but I can't imagine he'd have been completely happy with how little they saw the ball at home. Of course they played the counter attacking game but besides that 1 moment they were well and truly outplayed. Yes we didn't create a hat full of chances but they're a quality defence and not that easy to break down.
The Everton game was a complete write off, missed a few good chances early on but after that Everton were good value for their victory. We were pretty poor all over the pitch, again we had a lot of possession but there was no real intent with the possession. Too slow and laborious.
The West Brom game was again a good performance but a combination of good goalkeeping from them and bad finishing from us, along with a very fortunate winning goal for them contributed to the defeat.
We'll get back on track results wise this weekend, I'm confident of that.

Completely agree with everything said above. One thing though - if Carrick isn't fit, I'd rather have the setup from the West Brom game with Herrera playing a little deeper than usual, I thought he did a good job (not that there was much to do) and meanwhile Blind hasn't left me convinced, although it is more of his position. Jones declared that he's fit so that's another plus if he comes in McNair's place

Carrick out for the season (Fuck!)
Shaw fit, Evans fit but lacks match rhythm. Several players apparently also suffering from a virus.

Fuck sake. Hopefully we can scrape through these next 3 games without Carrick whilst maintaining our top 4 status. We should be able to manage it.

Carrick's a huge miss.
It's going to be tough tomorrow. I think we'll win, but it won't be easy. A win tomorrow, and a Liverpool loss against Chelsea would all-but guarantee that CL spot. Touchwood.

I really don't care how we play tomorrow all about the three points to be honest get them and as you said Liverpool lose to Chelsea that is it for top four. Shaw is fit at the right time and he has to be for the next three games I hope.

Leave it to Chelsea to lose to Liverpool to make things more interesting
Let's just win these next few games and end the season on a high note... pretty please

I don't see Chelsea winning. Their players have been given a rest, they're already champions, they have nothing left to lose or win.
It's unfortunate but Liverpool are facing them at the most appropriate time. Anyway the top-4 spot is only there for us to lose. If we fail to grab that fourth place, we can only blame ourselves.

Mourinho doesn't like Liverpool one bit and he will want to get the record number of points, he also loves his record against the big teams and I don't see him doing Liverpool any favours.

As Matt says we'll only have ourselves to blame if we don't tie up this top 4 place. I'm confident we'll get it done anyway, so I'm not concerned about how Liverpool do at Chelsea. Although if I'm pushed for a prediction I see a narrow 1-0 Chelsea win or a 0-0 draw. Chelsea may have already won the league but Mourinho won't let them rest, I just don't see Liverpool scoring at Stamford Bridge.

without Sturridge Liverpool are horrible upfront. I don't think they can get a goal at Chelsea unless Mourinho decides to chop and change his defence.
