It can't be 4 in a row surely?
Anyway, the stadium with a fantastic home support, basically they have nothing to play for except for their pride and fans, without any pressure of getting a result.
Their complacency and an easy win for United or, they turn up and kick our out of confidence arses.
What will be?

Neither of us have scored in the last three games.. should be interesting. They'll sit deep and look for the counter and we'll have to be careful with the likes of Bolasie and Zaha, commit too many forward and we could be in trouble. Heard Michael Oliver is the referee Jones should be back, hopefully Carrick too, Mata's been poor for me in the last few so I'd give Di Maria a go from the start. De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Jones, Blind, Carrick, Herrera, Di Maria, Young, Rooney, RVP.

A couple of weeks ago I'd have said this was a very tough game in our circumstances but they've plateaued and are playing as bad as anyone right now. They're safe and are playing like they're already on their holibobs. Expect some players to be back, so others being moved back into their better positions.
I'd also drop Mata for Di Maria, I thought Di Maria looked decent when he came on at the weekend. Think we'll get our act together again and win handsomely...3-0.

If Carrick's back then I'd still play Mata but if he isn't I'd agree. It's another bow to the worrying amount of importance that Carrick has taken on, him playing pushes Herrera up the pitch and Mata's performance level on the right is dependent on being able to link up with Herrera. I think it's time to change it though, if nothing else but to keep the opposition guessing a bit. De Gea Valencia -- Smalling -- Jones -- Blind Carrick Herrera -- Di Maria Mata -- Rooney -- Pereira If Carrick isn't fit then Blind into midfield, Blackett at left back and Di Maria wide right with Fellaini in his usual slot. I think I'd give Pereira a game no matter what, yes we still need a couple of points to see the job out but I think it needs a bit of exciting fresh blood and Januzaj hasn't done enough of late.

I wouldn't be against Pereira getting some minutes either.

A mix up could just be what we need.

I absolutely like Marc's team whether VG will rust and play it I don't know but hopefully he could play di Maria in a midfield 3 with Herrera and Carrick that mould make us a lot more dynamic and incisive than we have been in recent weeks. I think Rooney, Young and Fellaini and Mata to a certain extent need a break but I understand the reason for playing Rooney as he is the only striker with movement and that creates more trouble upfront than the other two. I hope he does play Marc's team not only will it be good in possession but it will take more risks as well and its very much balanced and unpredictable.

Don't know whether the manager will be confident enough to give Pereira a start though, especially seems we've not got the top 4 completely wrapped up, think he's more likely to make an appearance from the bench and maybe get a start at Hull the last game of the season if we're guaranteed our top 4 position. I'd like to see: De Gea Valencia Smalling Jones Blind Carrick Herrera Rooney Di Maria RVP Pereira Even though RVP didn't score I thought he looked pretty sharp. Play him up front with Rooney in the attacking midfield position that Fellaini has been occupying. The pace and trickery of Di Maria and Pereira out wide.

Side related question.
Is that the role you see for Pereira in the future in this system?

Not for me, I think he's better centrally.

I think he's better centrally and I wouldn't be surprised if long term he ended up playing deeper either, similar to Thiago.
Playing him there though allows him more freedom and as he comes inside it'll mean Di Maria can fill the space. I don't think you want to burden him with a central role on his full debut, the last thing he'd need is to have an ineffective game and take the blame for us not scoring again.
What sort of possession are we expecting in this one? Comfortably into the 80s

Yeah I agree, it's a safer starting spot for him rather than throwing him into a central role expecting him to create a load of chances on his debut.
The possession is going to be stupid high as usual. Despite our defeats I'm still impressed with our possession, I'd be more worried about us if we weren't bossing games and getting beat. We had a heap of chances vs West Brom and on another day could've won 5-0. This game will be very similar, if we take our chances we'll beat them out of sight.
