Dragovic teammate wishes him well on transfer as Man United move hots up
News broke in the Austrian media during the week that Dynamo Kiev’s Aleksandar Dragovic was nearing a move to Manchester United. Some even went as far as to say that all that was needed was for papers to be signed, and that only a Glazer family veto could prevent the deal from happening.
It is therefore interesting to read the Instagram profile of Rubin Okotie on Saturday evening. His 1860 München faced Dragovic’s Dyanmo in a friendly match. Dynamo won the match 2-0, Dragovic played one half and Okotie remained on the bench. Nothing special about this.
However, Okotie posted a photo of himself and Dragovic post-match on Instagram with the following caption:
“Wishing you all the best, I hope your transfer happens soon, you are one of the best centre backs in Europe.”
Okotie and Dragovic are teammates from their time together at Austria Wien and have featured for the Austrian national team together as well. It could just be that Okotie is hoping Dragovic goes further than the Ukrainian league, but considering the rumours the past couple of days, the text becomes very suspicious. It becomes even more suspicious considering Okotie and Dragovic met each other today.
To add even more fuel to the fire, two of the people Dragovic recently started to follow on Instagram are Manchester United’s Victor Valdés and Marcos Rojo. Ironically, there were stories during the summer of Rojo following a bunch of Man United players even before the rumours of his transfer were picked up by the media. It could be as simple as Dragovic being an admirer of Valdés and Rojo (admittedly, he recently started following other footballers such as Ezequiel Lavezzi of PSG), but the timing is very interesting.
More so than the following on Instagram, it's what Dragovic's friend said which catches the eye.
