I know we're a week removed from this match but I just want to see what everyone made of the performance..
I thought we were superb and more than a match for them, particularly in the first half. Admittedly they dominated the beginning of the second half but we were knocking on the door for the last 20 minutes and more than deserved a point from the game. It was a lifetime away from the performances against big teams last season for me.
It was great to see Januzaj back to last seasons form, I thought he and Luke Shaw linked up brilliantly on the left hand side and is definitely a combination we should look at again.

We had a good 1st half and the intensity dropped in the 2nd half, Chelsea have gone too defensive after the goal and that helped us. Anyway a good point from that game and to think we have done it without Falcao and Rooney means there is more to come from United. The only worry is we are creating a habit of conceding goals.

I thought the defence did a good job as a unit on the whole again. Rafa had a bit of trouble with Hazard, Shaw was comfortable, the 2 in the centre did ok but are always looking like they can make individual errors but as a unit they stopped Chelsea from creating too much. Rafa marking Drogba on set pieces was an accident waiting to happen though.

This was the first time we really started to see what van Gaal was about. If you go back to the World Cup, the Dutch struggled against sides that were worse than them but with the exception of the semi final, they won every game that they entered as underdogs - mainly due to van Gaal finding a way of nullifying the opposition.
We smothered Chelsea and cut Cesc completely out the game. We isolated Drogba, let Cahill and Terry have it and made sure that the only time Oscar got near the ball was when he dropped so deep he couldn't do anything. That was all down to van Gaal, you could see a clear plan happening every time we lost the ball. The reason Chelsea dominated the period just after the goal was because that plan started to falter as we begin thinking how to get back in it. But apart from that 10 minute spell, I thought we were the better team throughout.
The only real threat they carried was through Hazard, mainly due to Rafa's early booking which meant he had to stand off a bit too much.
Di Maria's wasted out wide though for me, the sooner we find a midfield set up that keeps him on the left of a three with freedom to go wide the better. We need to get him in the role he's in in the diamond but with the same defensive cover we had on Sunday.

. Rafa marking Drogba on set pieces was an accident waiting to happen though. Yeah, not sure how that came to fruition.

Yeah Van Gaal showed his class for sure. As I said, it was light years away from the performances in these sort of games last season and I expect to see something similar against City. I am once again confident that we can play any team, in any ground and get a result.

. Rafa marking Drogba on set pieces was an accident waiting to happen though. Yeah, not sure how that came to fruition. Just an unfortunate numbers thing. Chelsea had Matic, Drogba, Cahill, Terry and Ivanovic all in there. We had Rojo, Smalling, Fellaini, Blind and van Persie who could compete. Van Persie did his usual job of taking up the near post space which left one of the small full back having to mark a giant. It should've really been van Persie, but chances are he'd (like most forwards) switch off as soon as his man started moving.

Hi,
Overall it was a good result showing we are gaining in strength. Yes we are a bit shaky in the center of defence but all in all we are on the up and up.
Rafa should be nicknamed Mr 100% He in my memory has never been short of effort.
City versus United - City are reeling at the moment and I expect a Cut and Thrust derby as of the old days and United will shave it by the odd goal. Whether it be 1- 2, 2-3, 3-4 ...... We seem to have the set up of old which said " whatever you score we will score 1 more ".

This match was a real encouragement - best United performance in a long time - somehow refreshing to watch if nail biting at times - an excellent match for any neutrals Loved the will and grit we showed to come back for a point .............this was soooooo absent last season Nearly had a fit when RVP scored .............. lost my voice cheering - at that point in time it felt as good as a win We still can't play a corner to save our lives ........... good grief when will that be sorted

Its fantastic to see us getting our big game mentality back and ability to score important goals in stoppage time. Defense was much better too, Rafael did well considering what Hazard did to Zabeleta at the Eitihad last season, Rojo could have done better but was never made to pay thankfully. If Mata wasn't so anonymous or Rooney, Falcao even Herrera was in his place we could well have won the game

Rooney will definitely be in for Mata today, hopefully he isn't too rusty, I'm feeling positive. Wish I didn't have to wait 20 hours for this match to start!
