He's exactly what they need and why they stopped the window to get him, problem is they didn't buy the rest of the transfer targets on the ETH list because of that fucking net spend - and it's now all in jeopardy

Well yesterday should have sealed it - BUT what nobody knows (from the start) is the ETH / FDJ relationship and private understanding and the financial leverage the board can actually offer when they need to

It goes well beyond finance and Personal relationships. FDJ is a professional footballer and has ambitions. He doesn't want to be remembered for being in the side which was relegated out of the EPL which is the direction we are heading.

We aren't getting relegated, they'd tell ETH to revert back to full Ole ball for mid-table mediocrity before that. Whether ETH would stay is another matter.
Still depends what and how ETH has sold it to FDJ. I'd agree normally with you but there's a lot not been said in the background

To be TOLD by some bean counter the way to do his job would drive him to Throw his Toys out of the Cot. My way or I hit the Highway. I am 76 years old and excel at my job. It's bizarre isn't it. To me they are going for broke in the last chance saloon In any normal business you'd say to the manager 'ok you have till this date and then we'll revert to original list targets' BUT you can tell from the start that they are running on the personal contact between player / agent and ETH - if FDJ is literally holding ETH's hand all the way through this then that would be assurance enough, to a point. It's a fucking ballsy call that could bring 'em all down though. It could well end up in tears, Chelsea is the cleaner obvious path. UNLIKELY but he could still stay at Barca yet and then there should be sackings |
