It would really be stupid to let Varela go on loan. He showed guts and determination in the Derby game. His "going forward" was very good as well. Definitely one to keep and watch for the future. I believe he was a Moyes addition? Am I right?

. Bale, Ronaldo, Neymar, Lewandowski, Muller, etc.... are clearly unrealistic options right now and it's just stupid to sit around waiting for one of them to become available before sorting out our deficiencies. Do you think that any of these players is a realistic option, even next summer? They are all appreciated in their respective clubs, and Man U isn't the best place now... Maybe if we qualify for the CL, get a decent manager (PEP?), maybe then they might be tempted. Believe me I write this with a broken heart. As a Man U supporter since the 70's, I hate what is happening to our team and only want us to retrieve our status as the greatest football club in the world.

I am finding it strange that although we have been linked with so many players, there is nothing concrete. I can't see anyone coming in this late, I mean we only have two days to go. Maybe, just maybe the board are not inclined to spend knowing that the new manager(I hope) would not approve of.

I do not understand why members need to send a personal message to other members. If I have something to sy, I say it out loud on the forum. There is no need to be secretive about our opinions. This is the idea of the forum, sharing, hoping and admitting when you are wrong!

I agree with you in the fact that Giggs will eventually take over MU, but I do not think that now is the time for many reasons... I already mentioned that he played alongside some of the current players. This makes him more vulnurable than someone who didn't. More importantly, I want Giggs to succeed and prove himself as a long term SAF replacement. How do you think the supporters will react if he fails drastically with the current squad? They will hang him by the balls. He needs to take over a stable club with a good outlook. What we have now is definetly not stable, and the outlook is gloomy.

I wish I had as much confidence in Giggs as you do Jamie and I completely get how you'd like to skip the next stage of another 1-2-3 years of managerial mix and match and go straight to Giggs. But Moyes was supposedly a long-term replacement too and that didn't go down well... then Van Gaal with a short-term rebuilding job, which looking at the team is far from complete, so giving Giggs the job now would destabilize the club further in my opinion. We need to make sure we have reached some type of consistency in order to be able to take risks with an unexperienced manager. I'd give him the job now until the end of the season and see how it goes, but ultimately I'd like to see someone take over and finish the overhaul, bring a few years of stability and then see if and how ready Giggs is. That's the thing though. I think the thing LVG has done really well is the rebuilding job. Look around the squad. It's full of quality in nearly every position. He just isn't getting the best out of what is a good squad of players. As far as I'm concerned we're a top striker, a CB and a RB away from having a pretty complete squad. Good mixture of youth and experience. Giggs would start in a much better position squad wise than the previous 2. I stand by what I thought at the beginning of the season. This squad is capable of challenging for titles. Maybe not winning them quite yet but challenging definitely. It's LVG who is failing to get the best out of them for me. Even if you have all the ingredients, you can't bake the cake if you have no power. The fact that we have good players or mediocre ones is only part of the issue. There is no trust in the manager. This is evident. The players do not like the way he is running things and this is reflected on the pitch. Changing the manager is a must if we are to have any hope of a top 4 spot, and I am sorry to say that I disagree with the notion that Giggs is a good option. It was only last year that he was playing alongside Rooney and co. He will never have the same influence and authority as SAF had. We need an experienced manager who will be able to control things, on and off the pitch. Sadly, they do not grow on trees. Pep is the obvious choice. I would love to have him, but, he is on his way to Man City. Jose is an exceptional manager, and who will deliver, but he is crazy. I know that SAF will never return, even as interim manager, although I believe that he is the only one who can rescue us from this dire situation.

it wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that he chose that pathetic excuse for a footballer called maraoune fellaini would it now. no, of course it wouldn't because for that senile old prick of a manager we have, he's the best thing since sliced bread i honestly lose hope when i hear shit like this What about the rest of the squad. With the exception of de Gea, and to a lesser extent Smalling, all players are below par.

yeah we're shit phone Pep now and at least get that secure, looks like we won't be having champions league football next season though we need to sack Van Gaal, think that much is pretty obvious Do you think that Pep would bother without having a definite Champion's league spot, or at least play-off spot?

Mou always has a destructive presence around him which is definitely something we don't need after our last 2 managers. Pep is certainly the one for me even if it is a short term fix. It would make the next managers job a lot more easier and his philosophy is identical to our own. Pochittino would definitely be worth a mention but the more of a name he makes for himself the sooner Madrid will come a calling which would probably make him short term as well. Giggs under Pep (not literally) would be my ideal choice and when Pep does go Giggs should be more than ready. Pep is "blue Manchester". That is 99% a done deal. Let's stop daydreaming!

Yeah I've gone off Jose. I want someone young. Pep is too much of a short term fix, albeit a very good one. Give it to Giggs for me. Try and build for the future. If not Giggs I'd be going all out for Pochettino. Giggs?? Not just yet!

Madrid scored 50 under Benitez. Not all about goals. Yes but the point I'm making is "attack-minded". Jose has goals in him, which is more that what I can say for our team.
