why not both bale and depay (being just slightly greedy) While it certainly sounds tasty, there isn't much point in it, to be perfectly frank. Conversely, it could even have a detrimental effect.

Is it possible that we will sign both players? If so, could we potentially sign both for a combined transfer fee lower than that of Shaw's?

It's been the case for a number of seasons now.... I really wonder when this recurring problem will ever meet its end. There's got to be some reason why we are the club that consistently has the greatest struggles with injuries- even though we haven't had any European football this season, we still have the largest number of injuries. I, for one, find it head-scratchingly funny.

Actually Brendan, what I meant to say was that our overall performance wasn't as diabolical as the scoreline may suggest (though it certainly was poor). It's just that a few sloppy moments in defence, combined with a lack of penetration in attack, were the two factors contributing to our defeat.

TBH, it wasn't a particularly shambolic performance, it's just that we were devoid of any creativity in attack and sloppiness in defence contributed to our defeat. We actually lost by THREE goals at Goodison Park- it's ridiculous to think about it! For those who haven't noticed, it's our third straight season where we've been defeated at that stadium!

No, not really. It's just that I really want to get an A* in Maths and this paper was a really easy, 40 mark, 45 minute exam, which means that it's pretty much my best chance of getting full marks in any exam. And I didn't manage to do so not because of something I didn't get, but simply because of a careless mistake! When calculating the volume of a cone, I wrote down the wrong height, but other than that all my other working was correct. It's agonising to think about that!
I still have 80% of the assessment material to go through, but this was easily the easiest out of my three Maths exams, and I am aiming to collect all the marks I can possibly get.

Following back to back defeats, it's crucial that we collect three points against the Baggies.
Of course, there are no three easy points in the Premier League, but in a game against a lowly side like them at home, there's no reason why we shouldn't be winning this game. Remember, a top four finish isn't actually as secure as it seems, so this makes a win all the more necessary!

I had a chance to get full marks on one of my exam papers today... I would have but for a very careless error.
It really is a pain in the neck!

TBH I thought we didn't play that badly, but were hampered by two key problems. First, our inability to penetrate through Everton's defence despite monopolising possession, and secondly our sloppy defending. Particularly in the second half, we saw lots of the ball but instead of creating substantial chances, we were huffing and puffing and only managing to pass it just outside Everton's box. As for the defending... well, hasn't it been like this all season? The first was just criminal; no-one picked up McCarthy, and while the deflection was unlucky, Blind's subsequent challenge on McCarthy was pathetic. The second goal highlighted our flaws in defending set-pieces. The third one was kind of bullshit, to be honest, but it also highlighted our defensive problems. No-one was watching Mirallas' run, and if someone had done so we would definitely have not conceded that goal.
I'm not sure how we ended up with this horrendous result, but I think it is a wake-up call. I think fans and the team should be less focused about finishing in second place and more concerned with locking our spot in the top 4. Though it seemed like a formality after the derby victory, we're only seven points ahead of the Scousers, and they have a game in hand, so it is by no means over.
