Really sorry but i really don't know much about this election. Jamie, can you explain how it works and what is happening right now?

I have a feeling that this deal will spell the end of Ashley Young's United career, despite his hugely improved form over the past 6 months.
Depay agreeing to come to United (and that he rejected the Scousers!) is fantastic news. I am very happy with that, should be a great signing as his style of play is adaptable to the Premier League and he should already have a healthy relationship with Van Gaal.
Not sure where Bale would fit in if we keep Di Maria and place him in the side with Depay, but if De Gea goes to the Bernabeu bringing him in wouldn't be a bad idea.

At the end of the day, fans of rival clubs can debate all day about which club is the world's biggest, but there's no point in doing so as the term 'biggest team in the world' is subjective. Being objective, I'd say that Real are above us, and perhaps Barca too. I'm just happy with our proud history (20 League titles, Best, Busby, Fergie, Giggs etc.) and the fact that we are at least primed to secure CL football for next season, even if we aren't as dominant as we were under Ferguson.

Quite a number of people are starting to label him as another Macheda, perhaps rather impulsively. All this because his development has really stalled this season, and perhaps our expectations were raised by his contributions under Moyes.
Thoughts?

Any players in the A-League that could possibly cut it in the Prem?

Congratulations Chelsea on their Premier League triumph. Not what we would have wanted to see, but their title win is undoubtedly deserved.
Hopefully we can at least challenge for the crown next year.

Anyone heard about the news of Rio's wife? I feel gutted for him, honestly. It must be a truly devastating experience for him, to lose his wife at a relatively young age.

Hasn't featured a lot this season but I guess he's been decent when called upon, though it's sometimes hard to believe that he was part of a defence that reached the World Cup Final.

I actually started to wonder whether, if Bale did join us, his first season would be similar to that of Di Maria's. But having read the '11 Reasons' post, I realised that Bale has played in the Premier League and, of course, is more suited to the style of play in the Premier League than Di Maria was when he first joined. Then again, we've had a bit of an injury curse for the past number of seasons, and it worries me that Bale would be hampered by injury problems were he to become a United player.
I see no valid purpose in signing both him and Depay. Of course, Bale is a fantastic player and would definitely enjoy being at United, but Depay kind of seems like the better investment long-term wise. And he obviously wouldn't cost as much as Bale. But then, if De Gea does depart for the Bernabeu, it would make sense to use a swap deal and bring in Bale, though we would certainly need to pay money for that for happen. I wouldn't sign Bale if we had to pay around £70 million for him. If De Gea does stay, I would rather see United sign Depay for around half the price, hopefully less.
In terms of Real practically killing off some careers, it's a reason why I simply cannot bring myself to admire them as a club. Even exceedingly talented, world-class players, are not secure at Real, simply because Fiorentino Perez is a greedy man always desperate to buy the latest shiny toy every year, and discard the toys already at his disposal. The galactico policy does make Real a mega-club, but I personally find it truly ridiculous and a abhorrence to football.
