Manchester United target Dani Alves: Barcelona star 'in advanced talks' with Premier League club By Eduardo Fernandez-Abascal March 6, 2015 14:56 GMT Dani Alves is out of contract at Barcelona this summer (Getty)Free agent Dani Alves, a reported target of Manchester United, is in advanced negotiations with a Premier League club regarding a summer move from Barcelona, reports in Spain claim. The Brazil international's contract at the Camp Nou is due to expire in the summer and, with the Catalans yet to offer him a renewal deal, he has been free to negotiate a move to another club since January. Earlier in March, his agent Dinorah Santana revealed the defender was close to agreeing terms with a team other than Barcelona. "We're close to signing with another club, the talks are advanced," she said. "Barcelona? Dani is always available but he won't wait much longer. They're making Dani look like the baddie in this movie." And now Spanish journalist Miguel Rico, one the most reliable writers regarding Barcelona, assures in Mundo Deportivo that Alves is in "very advanced negotiations" with an unnamed Premier League club. Nevertheless, Rico, who broke the story regarding Cesc Fabregas's move to Chelsea in the summer of 2014, as well as Victor Valdes's arrival to Old Trafford, claims the Brazilian will not sign the deal until he knows what Barcelona's plans are, as staying at the Camp Nou is still his first choice. The report claims the defender will make a final decision after Barcelona's game against Real Madrid on 22 March, when the club are expected to meet with Santana to reveal whether they want Alves to stay, offering him a new deal, or are happy to let him leave. When asked at the end of February about the situation, Barcelona club president Josep Maria Bartomeu said: "We are already planning next year with Rexach and Braida [sporting directors] and other officials. They are working. I don't know whether Alves will renew his contract, we will have time to discuss that." Earlier in the season, Alves admitted he would like to have an experience in the Premier League and has since been linked with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United. United manager Louis van Gaal is looking for a right-back to replace out-of-favour Rafael and in February, Catalan-based newspaper Sport claimed Alves's agent was set to fly to England to meet with United's officials to discuss a potential move to Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Porto star Danilo, also linked to United in recent weeks, is said to be on the verge of completing his move to Real Madrid. www.ibtimes.co.uk/manchester-united-target-dani-alves-barcelona-star-advanced-talks-premier-league-club-1490809

It's a throw in so it doesn't give you the long range advantage of a free kick - which is what a 'kick in' would become. Remember, Loius is also Dutch and the home of good weed. Very true that. He speaks also about abolishing penalty shoot-outs with only 6 on 6 players at one point. Now, that would be fun to watch!

About throw-ins: “A throw-in should be a positive thing but more than half of throw-ins end up with the opponent,” he says. “It’s easy to defend a thrown ball. And it’s a bit weird too. It’s football, so why should we suddenly use our hands? It has to be a kick-in. Then the defending team wouldn’t simply kick the ball out. With a kick-in, we can change the game.”I should've said what I meant. I wonder if somewhere in the near future this being implemented. But our lads would still find a way to make a science out of it and screw it up. But this quotes: “That’s a bunch of old men up there. They don’t care about the game, they care about keeping their jobs and offices and expensive budgets. This is the biggest sport in the world and it’s governed by the most conservative people. But they can’t stop me from thinking.”- Brilliant straight forward.

Agree with this. It is even worse as Evans is looking now as a complete liar in the whole story but what's done is done, no point in crying over it now.

Thermal pants and a fur coat? Nah, not good enough! Hot rod! Serbian fisherman builds coal-powered backpack complete with chimney to keep him warm while angling Aleks Mijatovic was always feeling the cold while out fishing He designed a coal-fired backpack using scrap metal from his home The heater also cooks his catch while he continues to fishBy Darren Boyle for MailOnline Published: 12:50 GMT, 19 February 2015 | Updated: 15:23 GMT, 19 February 2015 A Serbian fisherman has designed and built a coal-powered backpack which can cook his catch while keeping him warm in sub-zero temperatures. Aleks Mijatovic, 45, said he created his unique piece of equipment so he could remain at the riverbank in the depths of winter without freezing to death. The angler from Leskovac, southern Serbia, used a few pieces of scrap metal lying around his home to create his masterpiece. He said: 'I tend to go early in the mornings or even at night when the temperatures are well into igloo conditions and warm clothes weren't really doing the job. 'I had stacks of jumpers on and a load of pants but after a couple of hours I was still freezing. 'Then, one night in bed, I had an epiphany. 'I dreamt I had a portable oven on my back which not only kept me warm but also cooked my catch on the spot. 'When I woke up I knew exactly what I had to do.' After his dream, he spent the weekend working on his backpack oven. He said he found an old metal drum and welded a pipe to the side to act as a chimney. He then filled the container with white-hot coals. Mr Mijatovic then spent the weekend working on his backpack oven. Taking an old metal drum, he welded a pipe to the side to act as a chimney and then filled the drum with white hot coals. Now, he and the bizarre contraption have become the talk of the town. Pal Ilija Kovacevic, 40, said: "Aleks has always been a bit of a dreamer but this time it seems to have paid off. "It looks ridiculous and potentially dangerous, but he says it's safe and does keep him warm. He says the heat from his back spreads over his whole body and he feels warm all the time now when fishing." www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2960032/Hot-rod-Serbian-fisherman-builds-coal-powered-backpack-complete-chimney-warm-angling.html?ito=social-facebookOnly in Serbia™!

That's an awful headline... We're tied with Arsenal with 11 wins apiece. Yeah. We need to knock them off their fecking perch completely. Fergie did it with Liverpool, van Gaal should with Arsenal.

It's a shame really this happened in the moment when he had his best game this season. Whether deserved or not, this ban comes as a kick in the teeth because of the cause of the offense itself and verdict of the Evans' conduct. As much as disgusting and "no man's" act, there are far worse offenses being treated more lightly than it should but it's the way how it is.

The Football Association released the following statement on Saturday morning...
Newcastle United’s Papiss Cisse and Manchester United’s Jonny Evans will serve suspensions of seven matches and six matches respectively with immediate effect following their game on Wednesday 4 March 2015. Both players were charged in relation to an alleged breach of FA Rule E1[a] that in or around the 38th minute of the fixture they spat at each other. Mr Cisse accepted the charge and his suspension consists of six matches, which is the standard penalty for this offence, with an additional one match as he has previously accepted a violent conduct charge this season. Mr Evans denied the charge but it was found proven following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing on Friday [6 March 2015], resulting in a six-match suspension. The incidents were not seen by the match officials but caught on video.

Valencia or Barcelona's CM can destroy more physical midfield because the team as a whole plays differently. They pass and keep the ball so much better that the opposition is worn out completely and their physical "advantage" is made useless. There you go, that's the whole point really. if you are competent enough as a team in all departments, some at the first sight important things becomes trivial and can be covered by other of your strengths. If your midfield is technical enough, have a good understanding and chemistry, your be able to overcome all difficulties and flaws in other aspects like physics, but, when you start to rely too much on individuals, your flaws will naturally be more exposed. The Netherlands team in my examples in the Arsenal match thread didn't have some extraordinary great players but what they've had is exactly that what I've mentioned just now. They were far from perfect of course but still they managed to execute what was asked of them from van Gaal. Blind's problem isn't in directness of others going at him as such IMO but the shift of the whole team in relation to each other. Lack of pace can be covered pretty well with smart movements and positioning of individuals who are working as a team. Most probably we're not there yet but we'll be soon enough. However, one of Blind's main strengths is reading the game and positioning so IMO he'd do very well in that position anywhere, regardless of the team and league he's playing at. "and you would need a third CB or a defensive CM to cover for Blind's lack of pace"
That's why I have Carrick there who acts basically as a third CB > DM and don't you think that the match vs Arsenal will be tactical enough? Here's a question: Why some of the fastest players on the LB position were being exposed against some very technical sides? Is it because of their bombing up the field more than necessary and no matter what, bad positioning and staying behind (high up) when the ball is lost, all of that or something else? Marcelo for example or our own Shaw?

Yeah, fair enough, I just got that feeling from your saying that you don't want him at a left back because of Arsenal's pace and in the middle because he is a bit lightweight. I got you now but I still stand by the statement that he wouldn't be destroyed by pace at the flank or that "athletic" factor is a firm decider that he'd find himself in no man's land against some physical midfields. I have showed some examples why it isn't the case, whether people agree with that is another thing.
For example, Valencia didn't have a very physical midfield but still managed to beat Stoke if I remember well, or Barcelona for that matter.
