Only 8 votes so far. Underwhelming.
People don't really know what they want or something else?

I went for 5 positions + 1 here, could be trimmed if you cut out one of the new box to box CM's and put Herrera in. I also don't have an idea about side defenders, just thrown Rodriguez and Alves out of my arse because we've been linked with them.

No. Carrick or Blind (and it's a fit Carrick atm). Fellaini needs to be sold or kept as wild card sub (which I'm against) Agree with that completely. van Gaal is forced to play him as a plan B. If it wasn't for that injury, he'd be sold last summer. Not a player to be part of the new born midfield, assuming it's our goal to have one finally. How are they technically superior to Blind, I said technically superior compared to our midfield, not Blind as a sole figure. Blind was alone there, expected to run the show from the center on his own. He is not a fecking Paul Scholes.

Different training, more intense, and being asked to do different things on the pitch he hasn't done before, all adds up to a rough first seasons initiation for him. He'll be stronger for it next season.....as will the others newbies. That's a fact, I just pray to God that his body will withstand all efforts and difficulties. But he needs a competition, a pure left back, not the player shifted from another position to fill in. I don't believe any one of them youngsters could sustain the same level if the team is not a well oiled machine. That's my worry. I'm afraid also that maybe the new 150m will not be enough to fix everything if we're to spunk half of that sum on just one player (I have Pogba and Bale on my mind here). Two centerbacks, two midfielders, a right back, winger and IMO a left back. That's just too much new players but it's needed I think. If you add a striker plus... ugh.

Just one note: Against Arsenal last night, 3 players have changed at left back spot.
Giving the youngsters a chance in the big league and big matches is all well and good, but only when you have a settled first eleven who are playing as a team. We don't have that. If you put inexperienced youngster in the shitness, he will always tend to pick up the syndrome too, not to heal it.

By the way, van Gaal didn't mess up anything. He inherited the mess that can't be solved over one season and by putting one world class player in that mess to fix it. Anyone expected that was fooling himself. Many players in our squad are just not good enough to perform his ideas. He's trying, tweaking, shifting but nothing is working as it should, at least a little bit. It's true that we are putting in the effort but that's about it. The heart wants but the body doesn't listen. Some are worn out, some were fitted very well in the shitness and becoming shit themselves.
It's a big pit full of shit. Sorry for this "nice" metaphors but our standards should be set and stay much higher if we're to talk about top flight and silverware.

It was clear as a daylight that Arsenal's central midfield was superior to ours on the night. Yeah, we've done something worth of note in the first half, but that's just not good enough. Their midfield is faster, technically superior and have a good chemistry between themselves. We were just shit compared to that. And, in recent years we have lowered our standards very much!

Is it not a bit worrying that a 19 year old picking so many injuries since he came? I don't remember him being so crocked last year at Southampton.
And please, just not the famous "it's us, it was inevitable to happen" reference.
I certainly hope it's like you two are saying, but the first signs are not promising.

I'd like to see James get some action, not sure how he's been doing for the reserves as I don't watch them closely enough but he's just signed a new deal and in the few apps he's had hasn't looked out of his depth. Like I said in the other thread I wouldn't be surprised but I wouldn't go spending another 20-30m on one either, a reliable back up would do. Assume Shaw is injured/suspended and one of the first choice CB's and we're playing some important match against a top side. Can you honestly see Reece being thrown there and perform, without shifting someone else and thus shifting the whole defence/midfield to accommodate the new tactics? From what I saw and concluded, could be wrong of course, we do need another top left back. It's worth to say that almost every top side have two equally good players for each position.

It's just so painfully slow. Fellaini has done well in some aspects but he's done almost if not more a bad things, fouling people out of any need, especially when they've lost the ball, hesitated to pass the ball quicker (one of our counters springs to mind when the audience went mental), receiving the ball on the chest very well but done nothing with it (accurate pass was missing again).
Blind looked more often than not in no mans land against their fast midfield. It was also noticeable that their midfielders are far technically superior, at least in this match.

So apparently Shaw was injured and Herrera was a tactical sub.

Yeah, thanks on your answer Dave but I deleted that post and copied it in the new thread. I think it's better that this talk has a thread for itself.
