The Glazers are a cancer / parasite, always have been, always will be, but we're stuck with them for the time being. The only way you can look at it is they have nothing to gain by seeing the team fail on the pitch.
I wish they'd fuck off and die too but it's not happening any time soon. Although I've always said they'll just sell up and disappear overnight when you least expect it.

Have you read/listened to what Castles actually said? Basically PSG/City are all about the PR and don't care what they spend, we on the other hand do not operate like that and as I said the Glazers are businessmen and want to make profit. We've been priced out of these 'proposed' deals for Neymar and Mbappe that's all.
I haven't read anything about them blocking Matic or Perisic but I'm not surprised if we are unwilling to pay 50m each for two 28/29 year olds even if Mourinho really wants them there has to be long term value. He's already spent a feck load with very little to show for it in the league.
They need us to be successful on the pitch so will spend big when required as they have done.

I just fear their definition of successful is reaching the CL not winning the title. They only started investing once we were out and we must hope they don't stop now we are back. I also don't think it's the Glazers who should judge on a deal, that should the manager.
I would like to know what budget we have for this window. Would give a better picture of what still can expect it not.
Anyway, If we need two more players we need to be able to get them but I agree signing for the sake of signing is wrong.
We should reach CL with what we have but a possible title challenge would be very dependable on injuries and form of the likes of martial and other youngsters.

Another option, who isn't a DM in the traditional sense but is damn tenacious, Veratti. He would cost in and around 50 million and i think we can all agree, he's a lot better then Matic. He's a lot better than Matic which is why he'd cost a lot more than 50m and PSG aren't interested in selling. yeah, probably 60. but they need money to fund the neymar deal (no way they pass financial fair play otherwise).

Also we should have been in for Bale for ages. He's a lot better than Perisic (hell, we can even get him to track back also). Bale + Verratti would put us back 140 mill combined but given the talent level it would be worth it De Gea Valencia-Bailly-Lindelof-Shaw/Darmian Verratti Pogba-Herrera Mhkitariyan-Lukaku-Bale That is a team that is closer to competing for both league and champions league honours (i mean we'd be at chelsea's level i'd say with this, if not a bit better).

Bale & Verratti is absolutely dream stuff even tough Verratti is not a DM what we need but you don't say no too such quality if available.
Bale alone would be awesome despite him havin his regular injury problem but he still has 30+ games a season and could make us instantly title contenders. Imagine Griezmann adding to that next summer. What a frightening attack that would be.

watched the first 20 mins of Inter vs Bayern in my lunch break to watch Perisic. He looked halfhearted, only little effort done by him. Some stepovers without endproduct. Just saw the replay now of the 2:0 where he gave a class assist from a very good cross.
Some players arrived in the PL from Serie A with similar stats:
Cuadrado: 32 games, 11 goals, 8 assists FAILED! Jovetic : 31 games, 13 goals, 5 assists FAILED! Lamela : 33 games, 15 goals, 5 assists FAILED! Perisic : 36 games, 11 goals, 8 assists ??????? (averaged 6,5 goals and 3,5 assists per season in his time with Dortmund, Wolfsburg and Inter before)
I wonder if the difference between both clubs is "only" £5m and Perisic is sooo despertae to move, it could be an option for him pay the difference himself

It's pre season and he wants out, I don't think he'd struggle with the league it's just whether he'd take us to that next level, those players mentioned were pretty young when they moved. Anyway if there's anything in this we won't be singing him All depends on Mbappe and Madrid.

Carrick is class, we know, but who's the best future Option? I still think Strootman should be considered. A shame he had so bad injuries. Squawka limits to 5 player so I couldn't fit Dendoncker in here. Also belgian league is not available. Has pretty average stats except interceptions, where he manged 3.18 per game in last years Europa League. A really impressing stat compared to the below.

Finally I see something good in a possible Matic deal, if that means Matic for Fellaini, that sounds like improvement! Still 1 short in defensive mid then.
The more I think about Dendoncker, the more I want him!
Would be perfect to me 2 in and 1 useless out!

Be indicator tonight how far along Fellaini is, he's in the squad for Valerenga, if it's a complete no show then they're into the nuts of it.
