Of course I wouldn't expect him to shoot himself in the foot but I wouldn't expect him to take the fans as idiots either.
On Pogba. Every single time I've seen him play or train he's always been fantastic. Really? Don't think that's the opinion of 99% of us fans.
We didn't sign a respected striker because we want to develope Greenwood. Biggest load of rubbish I've heard in a long time. What sort of pressure is that to put on a 17 year old.
The money is available but We didn't sign players that we need because any doubt at all they won't be coming. Then we won't be signing any player ever again because there's always doubt.
How he's changed his tune from the last game of the season when there will be players who won't be here next season to we have a fantastic squad and he has a 100% trust in everyone of them. Every single one of those players that played in that last game are still here.
There's more of the same but I can't be bothered looking. Of course he's not going to throw his players under the bus or criticise Ed or the owners but he should stop telling obvious lies and stop contradicting himself if we're to believe he's his own man. The Glazers and Ed have shown they've absolutely no idea how to run our club. Ole has to distance himself if we're to believe that there's someone at the club who has the no how to turn us around.
Yes I watched it. Most nervous he's been in a presser. Knew he was going to have to answer uncomfortable questions and from my point of view he didn't do a very good job. Reminded me of Moyes
There was just so many different ways he could of answered those questions and not made himself look a complete yes man. If Ed told him to drop his trousers and bend over he would do it without question but as its his job on the line and if it goes tits up then it's his head on the block but like I said before. Don't take us fans for idiots.
Its true we need to be United but if the people at the top don't share the same philosophy it makes Oles job and our enjoyment of the game so much harder. No need to cover up for them.
No cover up, we’re putting the club and Ole’s vision into place, we stood to the task at hand with recruitment getting the right profile of players. As I said why you want Ole to kick up a fuss when what he wants is happening I don’t know.
I think you're missing the point Dave. It's all well and good talking about visions and implementing Oles plans and yes we were weak in defense for a long time and now we are definitely stronger but (you knew there was a but coming ) what I'm saying is in midfield we are scraping bare bones, the same as in attack where the club seems to think Rashford and Martial are suddenly going to become clinical goal scorers and that Greenwood will become our saviour because the club is talking a lot about him. Big risks to take. What I'm saying is personally I don't think we'll make the top 4 with the squad we have. If we had of Signed Bruno and Ben Yedder then I think we definitely would have. If we finish 6th playing the shit football we seen at the end of the last season do you honestly believe Ole will still have a job long enough to implement this vision? Then what vision will the next manager have? Don't you think his job would be a lot easier if we had of signed Bruno and Ben Yedder. I keep talking about these 2 because they were 100% available this season for a combined price of less than 100m. It's like building a house. You can build strong foundations (defence) but if you leave it a year without putting up walls or a roof it wouldn't make any sense.
Recruitment is important of course and maybe it would have made his job easier but we need to see good coaching and improvement on the pitch, if we don’t have that then signings aren’t going to make a whole load of difference as we’ve seen over the last six seasons plus if it doesn’t work out you are potentially left with a load of players the next man doesn’t want. Given that we are yet to hire a DOF or similar it seems sensible to take it step by step rather than major surgery and Ole and the club have said as much.
Ole said we’d replace Lukaku but given it happened on the last day then there wasn’t much time. I think striker wise he was always going to go with Rashford/Martial this season as first choice, so another signing would have merely been another option which is great but given how Greenwood has performed not only in pre season but at the end of the last season I honestly don’t think there’s huge concern from Ole and the club there.
Whether Rashford and/or Martial can step up remains to be seen but there were again good signs last season, Rashford was on a great scoring run when Ole first came in but then he started to struggle with injuries and Martial is a good finisher and has always had a good goal/game ratio. In my opinion we should have given these guys the chance three seasons ago but instead signed Lukaku, their development has been stunted by Mourinho but can now get back on track under a former top striker no less.
Bruno is a no.10 so even if we signed him we’d still be light in midfield in this new system, we knew Herrera was leaving in January at the latest, again it may be a risk but the club have replaced from within, Ole even said that McT/Pereira were the replacements but like you I expected another body there.
Starts in the PL last season: Fred - 13, McTominay - 9, Pereira - 6.
That is not a lot of games and for a 50m buy that’s pretty pathetic, I expect those figures to at least be double by the of the season, McTominay even more as that lad just keeps improving. It is a risk but these guys are young and can improve.
In terms of his managerial status it’s hard to know where we stand, as all our previous managers not only failed to achieve top four but lost the dressing room. Hopefully Ole is given the time to rebuild, why else bring him here and set this up, if we see improvement on the pitch and good signs moving forward he should stay. Player wise I always say if you play good football the players will be quite happy, they are human after all, look at Poch/Klopp winning feck all yet there was no discontent. Mourinho and LVG won trophies but didn’t win the team round as it was shit each and every day/week.
Sorry for the long winded post but there’s a lot of doom mongering online and it’s not that bad, we finished 6th last season and spent half of it in disarray with a manager trying to sabotage us. Yes we had a poor run at the end of the season but Ole was still 3rd in his time here, squads improved with new signings and promotions, we’ve had a great pre season getting into shape, playing good football and winning all our games. Lots to look forward to but as always it’s whinging about transfers.

I wouldn't call it whinging, I'd call it common sense 6 games in and down to less than bare bones.
I really do feel sorry for Ole. He's had his head in a noose ever since he arrived and between not signing obvious replacements and inheriting not a very good squad that noose is tightening.
It's not a knee jerk reaction to todays result but more so the dire performances of the last 4 months or so of football action, but I think it's becoming clearer that Ole isn't the man to take us forward. We talk of Oles vision but what exactly is it? Since he's came in we've played a high pressing game, playing it out from the back, possession game, counter attack and god knows what else. The excuse for the last 3 months last season was the players weren't fit enough. I really don't see any marked difference this season. Injuries will be used as an excuse. Does Pogba being out really debilitate us? I don't think it does. Does Martial being out really debilitate us? Depends on the Martial that shows up but generally no. Does Rashford being out really debilitate us? Not the way he's been playing lately. Don't get me wrong. They are extremely good players but this is where my beef with Ole comes in. A good manager coming in can steady a sinking ship and to give Ole his dues he did that, albeit that ship sure did have big holes in her at the end of the season and was teetering again but a great manager coming in can change the whole dynamic. I remember in 2015 the state Loserpool were in. They probably had worse players than we have now and were playing worse footbal (OK maybe an exaggeration) we beat them 3 or 4 but played them off the park and remember in 2015 we were hardly world eaters but we looked it against them. About a month later Klopp came in and with the same players transformed them in a short space of time. If Klopp had players like Pogba, Martial and Rashford then I would say they would be a massive miss for the team but Ole never has or never will have the know how to change players mentalities to make them world beaters. If he failed at Cardiff what made us think he would succeed for us.?The coaching staff is a the same, nice blokes but no idea on top league tactics. From the manager on down they need to inspire players to take them to the next level. Not going to happen with what we got.
I wouldn't call it whinging, I'd call it common sense 6 games in and down to less than bare bones.
Aye but we made that bed and have to lie in it, whether it be the board, Ole or whoever they made the calls to go into the season with a thin squad. Jack shit can be done about it now so what’s the point bleating on about it, on commentary yesterday all Nev was going on about was signing so and so, we lack this that and that, Ole will need a few windows etc. we know all this but it’s not much use right now is it.
Perhaps we have to take a step back to move forward. How many managers and signings have we had the past years yet we have gone absolutely nowhere. Ole and the team may not be the ones to lead us to titles but if they can give us the right players with the right mentality, develop our promising youngsters and just generally stabilise the club we’ll be in a much better place. The signings look great and have been our best performers thus far, I know it’s early days but when was the last time we made three successful signings in one summer.
In terms of the football, we showed glimpses in our earlier games but have been hit by injuries, if any team is missing 4/5 first team players it’s going to have an impact. Ole hasn’t made any excuses though has he? Got on with it and made do.The matches have been fine margins, we’ve had more possession and created the better chances against the majority of our opponents but if you don’t take those chances then there’s a good chance you’ll get punished.
Quite frankly if you aren’t inspired by these guys then you are at the wrong club, whether that inspiration can be translated into quality on the pitch then time will tell.
