I'd still fancy Stones. I stopped caring about fees some time ago since it is the Glazers pocket now. Better they pay for players then their own shopping mall's in the US. 80m still sound ridiculous for a young defender with half a good season despite very bif potential.
Bailly could well end up a Ivanovic like, defensive-first thinking, RB? Hope not but Mou parking his bus could still happen...

He said Bailly is a centre back and he'll play centre back. Don't know where these rumours came from about him playing at right back.

played that occassionally for Villareal. Don't remember where I read that. Yes, Mou told he is a CB, that is why I said he might end up there, despite not being initially bought for that spot. Could imagine Darmian suits Mou from style of play but maybe not physically.
There is much nonsense as usual on the web. Some, like loaning out Shaw, are very strange. Bailly as RB seems less strange tbh.

Rapidly becoming a fans favorite and rightly so!

Definitely, I have been hugely impressed by him so far. He's only played a handful of games and looks like he was born in the team already...

Just saw that at the top of the page and I just had to point it out But yeah, I don't think anyone anticipated how quickly Bailly would fit into the squad. To a point where he's nominated for player of the month. I absolutely love his tackles, he kinda reminds me of Vidic. It would be great to see if him and Smalling could pair as well as Bailly-Blind, but I could just imagine Bailly taking the physical side of defending (much like Vidic did) and Smalling being the smart, pushing forward defender (like Rio).

Yep, Eric and Mike will make a great pairing in the mould of what we are used to seeing from our CB combinations for a few years now. I'd like to push Blind then into the DM sweeping role, he has the ball control to play us out of defense and the passing range to start attacks. He has also learned the toughness requirement to defend in the PL after his stint as a CB for us. He would be ideal in there IMO.

I don't know... I'm getting used to Blind as a defender. Also, with the team we have, I don't think we'll need a defensive midfielder. Our entire team is structured around Pogba and focused on attack so I find it hard to imagine us putting one player behind that midfield. We'll see, but for the time being, I'm happy to see Blind in defense

Good for them ..... Bad for us as the Ivory Coast qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations
Mid Jan to early Feb (if they make the final on the 5th) without Eric seems on the cards
He would miss a juicy Liverpool at OT, Stoke away, Hull at home, Leicester away and maybe Watford at home.
So Smalling / Blind would definitely be the first choice then .... Smalling was a beast most of last season, got the Captains armband a couple of times, it must be hard for him to remain patient on the bench. Can't argue about the partnership Blind / Bailly so far but even if Smalling was called up for England this time will it continue ?
Good to have competiton for places if the players can cope with it. Selection via injury or cup matches doesn't replace being a regular on the team sheet long term.

Not worried at all, we have plenty options. A shame that he'll miss the Liverpool game though
