After a run of four consecutive wins, United have lost the last two games, to west Bromwich Albion and liverpool. The hammers should be in high spirits; the six match unbeaten run includes a comfortable 5-1 win over Blackburn Rovers in the previous round of the cup and that stunning fightback in the league at Goodson Park, where they were 2-0 down with 1r minutes to go. This is a fixture in which the reds have histrocally done well, winning eight of the last nine home meetings in all competitions, with the last defeat coming in May 2007. The league game between these sides at Old Trafford in December end goalless. Latest Injury News United without Wayne Rooney (Knee) Luke shaw (leg) and Ashley Young (groin/pelvis), but Marouane fellaini and Bastian Schweinstaiger both returned to action against Liverpool. Antonio Valencia, Phil Jones and Cameroon Borthwick-jackson are nearing a return while Jesse Lingard should also rejoin the squad after missing at Anfield through suspension.

For some bizzare reason Schweinsteiger was not included in the provisional squad or the injury list when I read it in DailyMail this morning. Any idea on the situation there? Other than that, I consider West Ham to be a tougher opponent than Liverpool for us so I'm not very optimistic. I'd go for: De Gea Varela Smalling Blind Rojo Schneiderlin Schweinsteiger (if fit, if not Herrera) Lingard Herrera (Pereira) Martial Rashford

We're due a win Lost two matches at home all season which is the upside, West Ham are a good side though and in good form. Still at home I expect a reaction from us. De Gea, Varela, Smalling, Rojo, Darmian, Schneiderlin, Herrera, Lingard, Fellaini, Memphis, Martial. Blind desperately needs a rest and with the physicality of their front line this would be a good time, Darmian and Rojo will make up the height, energy in midfield with Fellaini providing the physicality and again height. Lingard back in and Memphis who has looked good at home in the last few I'd keep going, Martial has gone off the boil but I'd give him the benefit of the doubt for this one. Wouldn't mind Rashford but not sure who I'd drop for him.

I guess it would make sense to rest Blind for this one

Whatever side is picked, we have to show some courage and fight, which was totally lacking on Thursday night and hopefully West Ham have an off day!

Yeah that's all I'm asking. I can just about handle crap football if it looks like the players are giving everything. Thursday night, like many other times this season we just seemed to throw in the towel.

Roshaun Williams in the squad.
Another who's been very impressive with U21's this season, McNair seems to be falling down the pecking order.
United squad: De Gea, Romero, Darmian, Williams, Varela, Smalling, Blind, Rojo, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Fellaini, Carrick, Herrera, Memphis, Januzaj, Lingard, Martial, Rashford
Winston Reid still out for the Hammers apparently.

Like you guys said - just please plese please show some character and I'd be able to deal with an eventual loss. Also, Dave, I'm relying on your optimism today because I have no confidence in our ability whatsoever

Cup Q final at home, where are we now as a club? We are hoping West Ham have a really bad day and we are lucky,we have the ability but none of us have seen anything all season to have any confidence. Worse still even if we score you can see us sitting back to defend it and them taking over.
Just feeling a bit negative really,in just over a week we could be out of the two cups and the chase for top four,it is realistic,I hope it does not happen but then we are stuck with LVG so that's not great either.
