First of all that was a great response from the players after the sending off and I don't quiet agree with you jamie when you say that Di Maria was off his game, he was definitely better than in the Chelsea game last week, we could have had two set piece goals had someone got in the end of his delieveries. McNair is going to be a good player if he keeps playing like he does and I just don't understand how our CBs keep getting injured and doing daft stuff on the field. Smalling was bad today and I am sure he will apologise to the guys but I am very proud of the way we responded, we matched City. Next week we have to go in with a positive result into the international break, there were times in the first half where I thought we could have done with Herrera's energy and link up play. The majority of his corners were terrible and his general play wasn't up to scratch for me. I thought Januzaj looked by far the more threatening of the 2 before he was taken off.

Yeah well summed up by Jamie. You can clearly see the progress, the performances have been good we've just not picked up enough points. Still only 4 off 4th place and it's very early on, gone toe to toe with the two best teams in the league and we haven't come out embarrassed like the majority of people predicted. Van Gaal is still trying to find that balance but we aren't far away for me.
Need to improve away from home and see games out, injuries are a big issue and something really needs to be done there. Still confident for a top 4 place.

I guess you are right, we just need to win our next 5 games, they are winnable, except maybe a worry or two from southampton and Arsenal. I am pleased with the perfomence and I just hope Ander is back for the next game for RVP and Rooney to play upfront

There's people seriously calling for LVG to be sacked over there? Are they for real? If someone can't see that the performances of the team this season are progressing and are miles better than what we saw last year then there really is no hope for them. Yeah, it's an absolute joke over, right now. There's even a thread titled 'Van Gaal no better than Moyes'... Laughable.

Just popped over there to check out what's being said. Couldn't even bring myself to open up any of the threads. Just the titles were enough to turn me away.

was a really good performance i thought, but smalling should be dropped to reserves for that. if i was LVG he would have been ripped a new one post match

I do agree with everything you say Jaime. Although there was no stand out performer from us we looked pretty solid as a team. Absolutely disgusted with Smallings first yellow. Hopefully he'll learn not to be a stupid twat. Would of preferred Rooney playing more forward with Di Maria playing a more central role. I wish Rooney would stop with trying to find those long Hollywood balls because 9 times out of 10 he's fucking useless at it. Wasn't quite sure what Di Marias role was today but I think in the games he's played wider he's shown he's a little better than average. RVP seems to be huffing and puffing but he's not blowing any houses down. I thought Felliani had another good game. Seemed to p!ay a more of a box to box role today and was probably one of our better players. Who ever thought I'd be saying that? Thought Shaw had a fair game but Valencia was wank. It's all well and good running up and down the wing but if there's no end product what's the point? Story of the last couple of seasons with him. Blind looked pretty solid but still gave away too many balls which is the story of his season as well. Januzaj was unlucky with being substituted because of the sending off because he looked like he could cause them some damage. Rojo still getting caught out of position but it looks like he'll be out for a couple of months with his injury. De Gea is looking solid which is good to see.

Mirror trying to claim Fellaini spat at Aguero. www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/louis-van-gaal-denies-marouane-4554378Absolute fucking joke, he's clearly giving Aguero a bollocking for what he perceives as going down too easily, no way did he intentionally spit on him. It's pathetic that LVG is having to explain that saliva can fly out of your mouth when you shout to a bunch of supposed adults.

You have to be a bit concerned when you compare our chances created to our goals scored... We've really got to start burying some chances. A draw was not out of the question, as I thought we played some of the best football I'd seen from us after we went down a man. In the last 20 or 30 minutes of the game we had a few opportunities to level it up, but we didn't have that same luck we had against Chelsea.
As for Di Maria... I'm convinced his most effective role (at the moment) is in midfield. He was not himself again yesterday. I expected much more from him.
The people calling for LVGs head are clearly missing significant brain function. Our overall play is miles better than anything we saw last season. It's obviously a work in progress, but he said it himself... it doesn't mean anything when you fail to pick up points. 13 pts from 10 games is just not good enough.
I'm hoping we can go on a run and start really finding our footing to cement a place in the top 4. It's incredibly early (10 matches in) but from every indication I've seen I'd say we've got a great chance.

If people are going to focus on Fellaini supposedly spitting on aguero then what about Joe Hart on that Oliver, I know it wasn't intentional but it's sort of the same thing if you are going to go by the media's logic. In the first half so many decisions went against us if you compare them to what City players were getting as fouls, but it's all good. The level of punditry is the same as the level of refeering in the EPL, I was listening to Hargreaves and my God what a bitter man he has become as well, why is there so much bias against United in a match, why are pundits always looking at what United do wrong as opposed to the opposition as well, it's just a joke really.

Yeah the refereeing in the first half was poor in general, Zabaleta, Kompany and Clichy should've all been on yellow cards. And they weren't debatable calls, they were all clear yellows.

Yeah I still find it amazing that when we had decisions against us for clearer penlaty shout than City's ones against QPR, Sunderland and Burnley nobody in the media noticed it but when City players were going down too easily against us they point them out. I think in the last few seasons like Marc said I think a few times last season the standard of refereeing in the EPL has been very poor. I just hope we can beat Palace by a few goals next week before the dreaded international week.
Did they mention how long Rojo would be out?

LVG just said he didn't think he'd be available for Crystal Palace... it really just depends how bad the dislocation was.

Absolutely no excuse for what Smalling did yesterday, the first one was braindead enough but to lunge like that less than 10 minutes later was just moronic. I'm a fan of his but moments like that are going to stick in the memory and taint his reputation for the rest of his time here.
On the game, it was another encouraging performance when compared with last year but I felt like we could've done more. We could and probably should have taken a point in the last 20 minutes but even after the sending off the chances were there to create more than we did. I've said it time and time again but Di Maria needs to be playing in midfield. He went from being a very talented but pretty frustrating winger to an incredible midfielder over the last year or so, putting him back out to the wing is just stifling him again. He was better after the sending off because it meant he had to come inside because there was no point in holding the width.
I thought we defended pretty well for the most part as well considering the circumstances, someone of Aguero's quality is always going to get a couple of chances, but I thought he was pretty much the only one we had a hard time stopping.
Despite the encouragement though, another defeat is still another defeat, we really need to be taking at least 13 points off the next 5 games to start making up a bit of ground.
