We have the fan base but so do Real, Barca, and Bayern.... and they keep winning titles, CLs etc. They get the starriest of star names too (not 60m rejects). So does turnover and fan base trump all of that? I'm not saying we're not the biggest but it's getting harder to argue it if we don't challenge for real trophies again next year.

Your post is quarantined so I'm not sure exactly what you wrote but I don't think it really matters if we're the biggest team in the world. What does that even mean?

It's a close call between us and Madrid when you take everything into consideration, with Madrid just edging it anyway. I don't know what you're getting at about us not challenging for real trophies, 2 years without a trophy can hardly count as a lean spell. I suggest if any fans think that United are losing their appeal just because they haven't won a trophy for nearly 2 years they're not real fans...even if we go 3 years without a trophy.
As Miguel says, what does it matter anyway? It's never been something that concerns me. You don't win trophies or awards for being the so called biggest club in the World.

Also, the "60m reject" is still one of the best footballers in the world.

At the end of the day, fans of rival clubs can debate all day about which club is the world's biggest, but there's no point in doing so as the term 'biggest team in the world' is subjective. Being objective, I'd say that Real are above us, and perhaps Barca too. I'm just happy with our proud history (20 League titles, Best, Busby, Fergie, Giggs etc.) and the fact that we are at least primed to secure CL football for next season, even if we aren't as dominant as we were under Ferguson.

To be honest I don't think Barca, Real or Bayern have the fanbase that we have globally. We are massive in Asia , Northern America and Africa. Most EPL teams are huge over here in Asia especially. They wouldn't even be close to us.
However, if you are talking about trophies, that's another matter.

Also, the "60m reject" is still one of the best footballers in the world. You got everything wrong here. If it's ADM you are referring to, he's not a reject. ... and he's no longer the best footballer around. that's the past. "is still" is present.

He's had a poor year, that doesn't make you shit. He still retains that title at the moment in my opinion, if we sold him now we wouldn't lose a great deal of money on him and would get a big sum. However, if he has another poor season his stock will lessen.

exactly. By no means he's shit. However,he's not performing at the moment and reputation alone doesn't merit a player to be the best or among the best after X number of years if you are not performing consistently.
Look at players like Torres, Shevchenko and probably Kezman (weird... all played badly while in Chelsea), they were superb in their prime at other clubs but awful later in Chelsea. You wouldn't call them world class players and among the best in the world while they were playing for Chelsea would you?
just my opinion.

The way I see it, he's the same Di Maria that got voted man of the match in the CL final, got into the team of the year etc. he's just having a really bad season and I put it down to transition. He's shown us his brilliance in the first few games he played, he still has the highest (or one of the highest) assist in the league and he has been on and off the bench. I think his high price has raised the expectations too much. But if the same thing continues next season then I'd be calling for his head too
