but a youngish player to compete with Tony would be good. Yeah on that I agree completely. Besides, if we got Ramos (far from done, I know), he would also be able to provide quality cover for that spot if needed.

its not like we've been linked with clyne for 8 months. We all know we need a new RB and its one of the key positions, Clyne was the most realistic, and at 12 million its a steal. Do we all know we need a new right back? I've said I'd be more than happy sticking with what we've got. The only way we should be signing another right back is if we can get someone of the highest level or if Rafa leaves and we bring in someone to compete with Valencia and that's all I'd have seen Clyne as. Sure, eventually he may have taken the first team spot but there's no way he'd have just walked into our starting 11, not with Valencia's form last season. what we have ain't staying healthy for long enough Valencia fair enough is decent, but its not like he is one of the top 5 RB's in the world or anything, which is what we should be looking for or someone who can be at that level, the same way we got Luke Shaw.

Valencia fair enough is decent, but its not like he is one of the top 5 RB's in the world I don't pretend Valencia is amongst the top-5 RB in the world, but can you name 5 RB's you would take ahead of him in the BPL in our system? I am curious to see who you'll come up with. My point is: you don't always need the best players. In fact, all you need is the right player. Take Schneiderlin: he is no where near the top CM in the world, and yet I believe he is the perfect signing this summer for our CM. And if we indeed sign him, I am sure he will prove to be worth every single penny of his transfer fee.

I think for the RB place van Gaal seems to be going for Fabinho from Monaco he is like 20-21 years and maybe he will provide the cover and take the spot in the future. Schneiderlin is like the Matic signing for Chelsea in that he is the player we need to replace Carrick long term and give him a break now plus he can also play the box to box position. He is not World Class but he will do the job needed, Carrick has never been World class but he is such a valuable player.

Agree with the analogy on Schneiderlin. He'll be as important a signing we'll make this summer and like Charlie I think he'll have a similar impact to that Matic has had for Chelsea.

UNITED INTERESTED IN COLEMAN
Sky sources understand Manchester United are interested in Everton defender Seamus Coleman but they are yet to make a bid.
There's an update on another Manchester United target and we understand negotiations are still ongoing over the club's move for Morgan Schneiderlin.
Coleman.. Meh

I'll take him. I know it was a Moyesy signing he wanted but i think he would be an improvement at RB. Just not at the 25 million they want (15-20 million is more than fair value)

Why are we all so concerned about defensive players? It's at least one world-class striker we need. Surely we're going to sell RvP & Falcao has gone. We have only Rooney & he's hardly world-class these days.

What makes you think Rooney isn't world class? Welcome to the forum
