LVG is starting to get on my nerves. I keep wondering how we always manage to get the points nonetheless. 1 loss in 19 games, and yet we look crappier and crappier with each game

Happy days a win, not very pretty but we got it done in the end.
Herrera was bright especially after the change, got his goal, Fellaini causing problems upfront, Young instant impact in wide areas.. surely got to leave out Falcao as he has offered nothing. Rooney upfront please.

To be fair, when you see the impact Herrera is having, not only with his goals of course, but with his malice and "vicious" positional play, you just can't leave him out, as he is exactly the type of player we need in CM to add composure, vision, creativity and most importantly DARING.
Then, LVG should start questioning himself and his set up. When we moved to a 4-4-2 with more fluidity, we basically trashed them for fun without forcing much. I am not saying we need to go back to 4-4-2. Losing only once in 19 games shows LVG is doing some things right. But it's obvious his tactics are somehow restricting the player, and perhaps the "balance" he is so keen to find can be found off the pitch, in LVG's mind?

Yeah but he's deliberately not doing that, looks like he's quite happy to keep possession for 60 minutes and wear the opposition down where he can, then change things around. It's the safe option but if you've only got top four and grinding out some FA cup success as your only priority in your first season, makes sense.

I get the frustration that we were kinda sluggish in the first half, but then again I think Van Gaal picked this particular line-up for their physical strength rather than their speed. Someone like Mata would have been completely bullied off the ball. Facing a Championship team and a Premier League team is completely different, so I wouldn't be surprised if he puts Herrera on the bench for the next one - along with his contribution he did give away the ball too easily on more than one occasion. Some players like Falcao and Valencia could have done better, but overall I thought it was a good performance, but most importantly - we move on to the next round
