We want some pace up front without using di Maria there? Here's the guy who could be the answer and is good enough, considering his banging the nets in the last two seasons and assuming that he wont do Benzema and feck off to Real. It's not like we've been linked with this folk or anything but we could be soon enough. Looking into the future of RvP, Rooney as a perma CM and uncertainty that surrounds Falcao, with only Wilson left with a pace, here's the chance for every paper under the sun to link us with him. Some info: Currently injured (perfect timing to post a thread). Last season 15 Ligue 1 goals, this season 21 in 22 matches, missed the last one vs Monaco. Very explosive and agile player, very much Aguero-esque, would be something refreshingly new in our squad. Moreover, if we're to play with two strikers up front, Wilson left footed - Lacazette right footed.

What comes out as an interesting improvement from the last season (except rising goal tally and a market value) is in discipline, something that arguably the biggest English talent in the last decade, named Ravel Morrison couldn't manage. The ScoutNation video from the last year:
I really didn't like his attitude previously, was coming around as a right tit sometimes but now it seems that he has matured in that aspect a lot. Someone will take him sooner rather than later and I'd like it very much if that'll be us! With RvP and Rooney not getting any younger (in Rooney's case not even a striker anymore) and Falcao aren't doing himself any favors (except for a work rate and an obvious desire to succeed which is not enough without the goals) plus he could be quite expensive on all accounts etc, we're going to be left with Wilson only which is not enough of course.
There are some other talents around that could be attainable, like Dybala for example but this guy ticks all the boxes for me before anyone else. Hopefully we buy him in the summer. I'd rather pay for him 30-35m than the same amount for someone like Cavani who's been mentioned again in the press!
Lacazette is on a constant up, quite promising you'd think.

Watching Lyon vs Nantes, he just came back from injury and plays incredible, linking up with team mates, creating and assisting. Lyon's goal came from a Nantes defender but it was a great assist by Lacazette, similar one to some of the Rooney's in his best days with a simple touch.
What's really fantastic about him is that he shoots on goal. Incredible ability for a striker!!!
Why the fecking papers are not linking us with him yet? What do they waiting for?

An interesting player for sure. He is probably going to leave Lyon this summer.

An interesting player for sure. He is probably going to leave Lyon this summer. If we're after a versatile striker/wide forward as we should be, knowing we'll move to a 4-3-3 and are looking for a pace and goals, he fits the bill in everything. Very impressive two seasons, "scoring for fun" as the saying goes and is the main reason that Lyon tops the Ligue 1. I've watched almost every their match this season and I want him here more than I ever wanted Lucas Moura. He is everything that modern forward should be.

I agree, that's how I see him, but at the same time, a part of me wonders what type of forward we truly need at this point. Only LVG knows where the team is heading and what type of forward we will need. But I do know one thing: we need someone with pace.

Found something, posted in January. Alexandre Lacazette: Europe's most wanted, most needed by Manchester UnitedThere is little doubt that Lyon’s youthful forward, Alexandre Lacazette, is one of the hottest players in Europe at the moment. The 23-year-old scored 23 goals in 2014 and he has now been linked with a whole host of top clubs, including Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool. One club that hasn’t been linked so far is Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United, but if the Dutchman wants to lift his club to the next level, they must go all-in to bring Lacazette to Manchester this summer.Reports have linked English clubs with a move this January, but with Lyon’s current position at the top of Ligue 1, and the player’s recent contract extension until 2018, his departure is as unlikely as anything in football can ever be. Lyon president, Jean-Michel Aulas, never one to err on the side of caution, put the stoppers on any move this month while talking to French paper Le Parisien, describing Lacazette as priceless. "You can't put a figure on it," he said. "What's the name of the Welshman at Real Madrid? I think Alexandre is a lot better. But Alexandre doesn't have a price, so it's pointless thinking of one." sport360.com/article/european/31813/alexandre-lacazette-europes-most-wanted-most-needed-manchester-united

i think it would be a pretty interesting signing. him on the wing could give us a real presence out there
though bit of a stretch to say he is better then that welshman at real madrid (though for the price real madrid want, we can get 7 lacazettes just about)

Also, Bale doesn't have some astonishing season at Madrid that he would command the price he went there for. I reckon Bale 50m, Lacazette could well be about 35-40m now which still may change till the end of the season.

well he was quoted at about 25-30 mill in january
and bale was like anywhere between 140-200 supposedly (wouldn't pay more than 100 though, considering thats how much real madrid bought him for, and for the price there are better options like Reus, and even with Reus he would be about 40-50 mill)
i would think by the summer though 30-35 is the minimum

i know, but dortmund would still sell him (buyout clause is 60 mill i think, which is good, since they need to stop getting screwed in the transfer market)
