At this point, we need a manager who can keep us competitive against Guardiola, Klopp, Wenger, Simeone (Chelsea?), etc. I think you're desillusioned if you believe an unexperienced Giggs can face such a challenge. The domestic competition will be even better next season, not to mention that "smaller clubs" can now mount relatively serious top-4 challenge or give any big team a proper beating.
Next season, we have no choice but to get a world class manager, and I think there are only two available: - Mourinho: like him or not, he is a proven winner and would make us solid when it matters most. - Blanc: yeah, you may not think of him as a world class manager, but he is truly a quality manager who understands the game very well. The team he has built at PSG is excellent, playing some quality football, and has turned them into a major European force in only a few years.
Simeone imo will go to Chelsea, while Pochettino, Allegri, Conte, Tuchel could also be good second choice.
If we appoint Giggs and that we realise it's a mistake (which would be in my opinion), United's reign will be over for a long time. We're already falling behind, falling even further behind would kill us slowly. We're not allowed another mistake because all our rivals will keep advancing. City and Pool are in good hands and it's about time we stop being blindly arrogant and realise our hegemony is under real threat. Top-4 means there only 4 teams allowed. And let's be honest, do you think we're in good hands to rank among the 4 best BPL teams? Of course we aren't.
A new, proven manager is needed. Mourinho or Blanc would be my pick.

Would Pellegrini be worth a go? He's a fine manager and would be at City still if Pep wasn't available and if their quest for the CL wasn't so desperate, plus he's out of work this summer. Not my #1 choice, but just a thought that came up in work today?

City are right in the title picture, we are fighting for 4th and will be lucky to get it. City are still in the Champions league and have a pretty easy draw, we are in the Europa league after failing to qualify from the easiest group we've had in years. City are in the League Cup final, we got knocked out at home by a Championship team. Regardless of all this, City are being pro-active and snapping up arguably the best manager in a generation to try to improve even more and kick the club onto the next level, while we are a full step behind and putting faith in a manager who is clearly the wrong man and should have been out weeks ago. It's a sorry state of affairs.
And the possibility of Giggs taking over makes me want to weep.

Not so keen on Pellegrini. Good manager, but not one to rival what's coming to the BPL. He lacks bite and character to be a truly top class manager. He is too nice, too perfect, and too gentle. City's form against the top side says a lot imo.

can Simeone speak english?
i'd go for him
if not Pochettino wouldn't be bad but not great either (it took him ages to get tottenham in order)
as for Pellegrini, it is unfortunate because if he wins the league and goes that ain't a great look for them. Could see him going to Chelsea or even a return to Real Madrid if this Zidane experiment is ended

People talking about De Boer, you have to look at Philip Cocu in that case then as well. Won the league last year and is top this year despite losing their 2 most influential players.

Not to mention he's worked with Memphis before and might be able to get the best out of him again.

On Pep, I'm going to predict a struggle. Mainly through hope than expectation but yeah, this is by far the hardest of the 3 jobs he's had so far. Barca and particularly Bayern were ready made sides whereas City, as they're proving this season require some work. I think he's going to find that he'll have to adapt his style to suit the league which we don't know he can do yet as he hasn't had to in the past.
Just like when Liverpool brought in Klopp, Guardiola in my opinion does not guarantee them success.

Actually if I had to choose out of the 2 of them I'd have taken Klopp every time.

Valencia got a 7-0 dicking from Barca. Gary Neville himself may as well as put on his kit and defended, would have done a better job.
he's had 8 games so far, hasn't won a single game
pretty sure he's gone very soon

Yeah, unfortunately Nev is doomed. I still think that Mourinho will go there next.

No surprise there, Rafa seems the fave.
I don't think it will change much, Newcastle have bigger problems
