I'd be happy with Ancelotti or Pep if VG is pushed out.
Giggs would have to be universally acknowledged as outstanding / exceptional by the board and LVG to get the job, for me.

I'm going to get my Mystic Meg hat on now and say that Pep comes to us, City stick with Pellegrini, Ancelotti goes to Bayern and Simeone goes to Chelsea.

Will only take one managerial deal now to set off a domino effect

At this point, there are three managers I would like to see next summer: - Guardiola being the favourite - then Ancelotti for the stability he would bring in - and finally Simeone.
I am sorry if I hurt anyone's feeling, but we just can't afford to believe Giggs has potential as a manager. He hasn't proven anything, and we can't make yet again the same mistake as with Moyes. Appoiting Giggs manager would in my eyes be incredibly ridiculous.
Chelsea will get a good manager, that's almost certain, Liverpool have just had Klopp who we know will turn them into a serious threat as soon as next season (they're inconsistent now, but that will change), City would jump at Guardiola's throat if we don't. Failing to get a top class manager next summer will cost us on the long-term and could see us drop out of the top-4 for a long-time.

I never used to like the idea of Guardiola as a lot of the tika taka stuff used to bore me to tears as a neutral watching it, even though I accepted that we needed to start keeping the ball better if we were to compete properly in Europe.
Getting LVG in and fixing that problem of keeping the ball will only be worthwhile if the next person we get in can use that and take us to the next level. Pep is the natural and obvious next step. We'd be crazy to miss out on him considering he's expressed a desire to manage here in the past.

Rumours floating around that VG may have his contract extended to 2018 :o No way would I like to see Mourinho managing us. He may have won a lot of trophies but his management skills are even worse than VGs. He lost the dressing room at Madrid just as he has at Chelski. We can't afford a time bomb at United. Not after all that we've been through since SAF retired. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Just no. If Ancelloti was a few years younger he would be perfect for us. A reserved manager but has the respect of the footballing world and goes about his business quietly but efficiently. Pep is the obvious choice. If he goes to Shity I will be reaaaaaallllllly pissed off. Simeone would be perfect for Chelski. Drab but efficient is right up their street.

I'd agree with those three as well Matt, Pep being the ideal and we'll soon find out more about his future.
Giggs is an unknown but I don't agree that means he should be written off, unlike Moyes he knows the club and what is expected. We aren't run by a load of numpties so if we went that route then they'd obviously seen something in him and I'd back that plus we'd certainly see attacking football.
Anything can happen in football, Mourinho was tipped to build a Chelsea dynasty and dominate for years, look what happened there.

I feel the same Dave. It's true Giggs doesn't have any managerial experience but what better learning process than working under SAF 20 odd years? He knows the club inside out, is totally respected (except for maybe his brother) and can call on the younger generation of teachers like Scholes or Beckham and even G. Neville to make us like a club like Bayern which would be fantastic to see. Out with the old farts and in with the new. Pipe dream I know but stranger things have happened.

Why are SSN plus every other media outlet running it like Mourinho is the only manager that has ever been sacked before?

Ancelotti is most United like, Pep would finish off VG's work - Giggs unknown unless he gets universal backing from his peers, they see him day to day, we don't.

Giggs would be a huge risk but I suppose you're either going to show faith in him or you aren't, in which case he should be allowed to leave and prove himself elsewhere. It's really a tough situation because even if they're impressed with him behind the scenes there's no guarantee he can turn that into success on the field.
Then again you'll never know until he gets a chance. I know Pep coached the Barca B team first but he was still a huge risk and he's now one of the most sought after managers in the World.
We'd have to throw all sentiment out of the window and judge him like we would any manager. He'd have to be given time but at the same time he'd be in for the same criticism as his predecessors if he struggles.
I just fear the last memory of the most decorated player in our history being us having to sack him because he fails as a manager.

I just don't see the Glazers taking the risk in the first place tbh. Going off what happened to Moyes, they just can't afford to be out of the top 4, so that requires 'proven' at this point.

Giggs needs to take a first team job somewhere else, no one really gets propelled into the top job at a club and is an instant success unless the squad is so strong it doesn't matter (i.e. Barcelona)
I hope for one of Pep, Ancelotti or Simeone, i think we will get one of the three but which one is the question

on Jose, i do feel bad for him to an extent, yes he is a bit of a prick but he's a showman first of all (himself, not his teams), to be honest he has as much blame in all this as the players, the ego in that team is too damn high. They need to get Hazard and Costa out at january and bring in adequate replacements (i.e Rodriguez and Lewadowski seem to be the ones linked the most), also do what mou should have done and get some younger better defenders
