Given the ample chances other teams (chasing top 4) have given us but we haven't taken, maybe it was decided ages ago that these simply just were not interested in qualifying for Europe and just let season peter out???
That certain players have been told they were on the way out?? And the mess left behind to those who will be staying, they are going to be like meh??
So a completely fresh start with no backdrop from this season being carried into the next one
As been in Europe probably wouldn't be much help given the size of the problem ahead??

It's not hard to see what's gone on - there heads have gone completely (if Lingard tells Scholes the dressing room is a 'disaster' - that means it's broken down irretrievably),
F'rinstance all those who are walking out the door at the end of the season already checked out when Ole left, they are free wheeling. All those left who aren't good enough, but think they are, have literally sulked and gone inside themselves, a lot of that due to agents and the people they surround themselves with telling them they are good enough.
