I was born in Salford 5, dockland, in walking distance of Old Trafford. As a kid getting to the swing bridge just as it was about to swing and being on it when it did swing was a big thrill.
The area has changed a lot I know because when me and the wife were over there a couple of years ago my sister drove us through it.
Where roughly do you stay in Salford ?

I remember Blackfriars and Deansgate. There was a cinema in Deansgate and it was on the way to the Bus Terminus. I caught the last bus home from it many times after spending the evening at the Oasis Club. I met my first ever Nympho one night on the Bus, she let me walk her home and was quite ready to drop her knickers in the dark alley behind her Terraced House. Being a gentlemen I refused but I went out with her for 8 months after that. Nudge Nudge, Wink Wink Is the Shambles pub still standing. When they were upgrading the area in around 1970 they either moved the pub physically or more likely raised it in situ to the new road level.

I googled it and it seems to be in Shambles Square near to the Cathedral. Must go there when I am next in Manchester.
