Watching the Barca v Granada game yesterday and the ref was unsure if it was a penalty to Granada. Stopped play, went over to the television on the side of the pitch, revised the action and gave the penalty. Not once have I seen a ref in the Premier do this unless there's a different rule here??

I thought VAR would be become more clearer as the season went on. Nope. Take the penalty against Robertson. When the ref gave it it went to VAR. Apparently the penalty can be rescinded for a clear and obvious mistake by the ref and not if it wasn't actually a penalty. What's the point?

Bare bones in the 5th game of the season shows how far we have to go. A potential CM of McT, Fred or Matic doesn't fill me with confidence. A win against one of our top 6 rivals would be a good result

Rumours that De Gea won't sign a new contract just won't die. Apparently Juve or PSG want to take him on a free next summer. I have to say I wouldn't blame De Gea if he does decide to leave because after so many promises over the years we're still no where near fighting for the 2 big titles. On the other hand he would be a bit of a cnut for letting the club get nothing for him but then again I'd blame Ed just as much for letting it get to this stage in the first place. What a mess. Don't understand why the club are dragging their heels. I'd give him a deadline until the end of September and if he doesn't commit then drop him to the bench and give our other GKs a chance.

Few potential bloodbaths happening today. Switzerland v gibraltar, Spain v faroe Islands. These countries are so small that not even my autocheck starts them with a capital letter.

He certainly had more decisive moments in the second half and in no way I'm saying he played bad but I think he had longer periods when he didn't see the ball than in the first half. With Rose I'm always waiting for him to make a mistake in games but I thought he was pretty solid, made some good crosses and was up and down the wing all night. Let's face it. Englands midfield has been crap for a long time now. Until a Scholes or a Lampard reappears then England will continue to struggle.

Slow slow first half but got better after the break. Thought Rashford had a good game first half but was a little quieter in the second. Unlucky not to score though. Kane and Sterling 5 goals in 3 games is a fantastic return albeit against weak opposition. Not a great fan of Danny Rose but thought he had a really good game. Tripper still showing signs of lapses which will be punished if he plays against better teams.
