I agree with Marc that we should maybe have gone at them a bit more in the 2nd half. But then I understand us playing it calmly and controlling the game in a "professional way". When we let Spurs more time with the ball, it allowed us a few counter-attacking occasions, but we were never going to play an effective counter-attacking football with the players we had as we lacked pace. I think we would naturally have scored a couple more with more pace and being a bit more clinical.
But I will take as much positives as I can from that game. The Liverpool game will be difficult, a lot more physical and demanding. But I feel we can win it and outsmart Liverpool if the likes of Carrick/Herrera/Rooney/Blind/Mata are in a good form to make the ball move quickly and keep the ball off Liverpool's feet.

True, I completely agree. Especially about the Europe part.
I hope there are many who can appreciate what LVG is doing, but around me, or in the media, all I can find is negativity, which is a shame because we're so much further this season than we have been in a long time. It's just that many people fail to see the basis LVG is setting and fail to see the bigger picture on the long-term.
Anyway, I firmly believe we're on the right track. And regardless of a top-4 finish, I feel we will win the league next season if LVG gets his summer signings right.

sure, I am amongst the few who believe LVG can turn us into a major force. All we lack is a bit of faith, of time (LVG has not even been here one year, neither have many new players), and a few new quality faces.
This summer will be vital anyway, and it will surely be an exciting one.

Watching Marseille vs Lyon tonight, plenty of potential reds next season, in my wishes at least Have you got a poster of Lacazette in your room?

Solid display. We may not have looked "brilliant" all the time, but tactically speaking, LVG has done it again. He has truly improved us massively in those big games, giving us a tactical advantage more often than not. Spurs were never going to trouble us today, after giving Chelsea and Arsenal a nightmare.
Well done to the lads too. My MOTM is definitely Carrick who makes us so strong at the back, playing that anchor role perfectly + one assist and one goal as a bonus. Followed closely by Rooney: how I love to see him play upfront. I can't even imagine how good he would be with an even better support, so much determination and aggressivity, it's like the Rooney of old time. Good game from Herrera whose relentlessness and positioning was a real problem for Spurs midfield. He did his job brilliantly, which was far from easy against Spurs combative cm.
Indeed Nemanja, Blind had a good game at LB. The whole team defended as a whole, therefore he could use clever positioning to counter the pace of Townsend or Chadli: it looked like a walk in the park for him. Great display by the lads.
But we need a bit more pace upfront next week if we want to trouble Liverpool imo. Is it to much to ask to get an in-form Di Maria?
Seriously though, Jones, can you learn how to make simple passes, please ?

I prefer the PSG-type midfield Kinda agree with that, taking into consideration that the EPL is a bit different than other European leagues in terms of physics, I also agree. And I agree with your last post Nemanja, that this summer will be extremely important. We can not fail and sign the wrong players. We need to be spot on and make the core of this squad perfect.

Out of your list, I'd definitely go for Lacazette.

It's also noticeable that the general philosophy of the Premier league needs refreshing with a more emphasis on technique and skill. I think that's very much the issue with so many (fans and pundits alike). They should be more open-minded and evolve with their time, at the risk of being left behind, because that's what's happening, right now.

It's funny how everyone enjoys criticising United and their "poor play" under LVG, but how about Chelsea's display last night? Paris truly have amazed me. So many great players, such wonderful team ethics. I am not surprised in fact, because I have always rated Laurant Blanc as a manager. He has improved them massively.

To be fair, Rojo has a massive learning curve, and he is already doing very, very well. I think he will cement his place as the years go by and become a regular week in week out (which he already is by the way)

Yeah, I think this one is in the bag to be fair. LVG being our manager would be a huge factor for sure.

No way we can let the gunners get Schneiderlin! He is ours!

Clyne is the obvious choice for me. By far the best RB we could go for all considered. I truly like Marquinhos and I think he could be a hell of a player to get. But he is undoubtedly more suited to a CB position, although, like Rojo, he can cover at full back.
