Mourinho on transfers
“Unless something happens that puts us in the market again. Obviously, my plans were four but I also told them to be cool, there is no pressure from me, do what you think is best for the club. We will be together again for another window in January and one next summer so there is no pressure at all from me. I am happy with the squad we have. I’m ready to go without a fourth signing.”
Think we wanted Griezmann and then had Perisic as an alternative, I don't think United are happy with the latters valuation but it may well still happen. Ideally I'd like another attacker but we have good players at the club already and need to get more from them, if we can do that then we'll be alright.

Lukaku + Ibra, don't know whether to laugh or cry at that combo to be honest.
Honestly, that combo seems like a bad idea (2, big, lumbering #10's). However, if we play them separately (use Ibra as our forward to go up against donkey teams and when we play donkey type football) then we could really take advantage i think.

Don't know if it's another loan or permanent, either way it's disappointing, good pre season and he's ready to be bedded into the squad. I know Mourinho likes a small squad but the games will come thick and fast soon enough, we need options, the lack of was a major part of our downfall last season.

We're not signing anyone else are we. The three signings we have made are quality but we need some depth and do need to improve in some other positions (both full back positions, left wing etc).

I don't expect anything to happen in the summer.
We desperately need an left winger but much depends on Griezmann next summer there. Shaw will solve LB once fit. RB is currently solved but in the long-term we need replacement. Ideally some 18-20 year old who can develop behind Tony. Doesn't seem we have someone in the academy an Fosu Mensah is going to play centrally in the future.

We shouldn't need huge changes just some real quality required in two or three positions imo. Priorities for me: Attacker/SS/ST - Griezmann CM/DM - Fabinho Other areas: CB, RB/LB, Winger, Goalkeeper So that is that, the transfer windows shut and our business is done at dusted so how are we feeling? Thats what I said at the start of the summer, didn't get my ideals but we have filled the vital positions. I'm happy and think we had a good window, Griezmann was a blow but still we signed Lukaku right under the nose of Chelsea and then took Matic off their hands, both already looking like great additions and money well spent. Think we were alright at CB but an addition would do no harm, not overly convinced by Lindelof but he has potential so we'll see. We also kept hold of De Gea and resigned Zlatan for another year. I will say that we could have done with another attacker but if it means more game time for Rashford and Martial I'm all for it, that plus there is more to come from Micky, Mata and Pereira is added to the fold. I thought Mourinho would add a left back given the rotating he did last season but it looks like he's prepared to give Shaw another chance and rightly so. Valencia's been one of our best players imo and there's no point buying a random squaddie for backup when the games could go to Tuanzebe or Lindelof. Well balanced squad, looking happy and confident, go win that league Jose

agree we had an overall good window. I think our squad still lacks an out and out winger of the highest caliber but I am happy for the season to come.
For the future there are always some task to not let the squad ageing:
Defense:
After this season we will know if Shaw can make it or if should sign someone there. Valencia is 32, so we should start to look for a replacement
Fosu-Mensah looks good whenever he played so far. Think he will return a better player and claim a CB spot once back. with Tuanzebe alredy here we can rather sell than buy a CB in the future.
Midfield:
Wit Carrick in his last year and Fellaini the one to be replaced sooner rather than later there is definately a need for a CM in the next summer. I'd go for Dendoncker. Otherwise we are fine in that department for the next 1-2 seasons at least.
Attack:
As mentioned a winger or two is a must in the future unless we convert to 3-5-2 in the long term. Griezmann with Ibra departing makes so much sense as he is a class apart most in Europe and can play all 3 front positions as well as no. 10. So him and Lemar, who is a very good dribbler & crosser, are my personal favorite players to be signed

Not going to lie, slightly dissapointed because after Lukaku, Matic and Lindelof, we didn't really finish it off, still a great window though.
However, we could win the league but we're still way behind Bayern, Barca and Real Madrid (probably behind Juventus and PSG also). I don't think signing a winger would have gotten us to that level but signing a winger would have made us a top 2 team for certain, we should be top 4 but we did what we needed to do i guess, we didn't exactly go above and beyond to really be a team that can be special. This is the same team aside from Lukaku and Matic (Lindelof is fine but is he's not exactly that much better than we already have), maybe that is enough for the league, but this team isn't winning the CL, probably gets us out of the group and maybe to about the final 8, at that stage if we get one of the real big players, we're pretty screwed.
Not to mention, its frustrating that Jose still doesn't believe in youth, it seems like he's sent out all of the academy prospects aside from Rashford, what does this man have against youth. I'm sorry, if your going to be a united manager you better be good at blooding the youth into the system.
He has no excuses with regard to fatigue also, if fatigue becomes an issue, it will be his own damn fault for sending out players who could have really helped us with depth.
